DaveC:The problem with the term poseur is that it belongs in the eye of the beholder. One can easily conclude that driving on public roads in a car with a large(GT3) or enormous(RS) wing affixed to its posterior is clearly the mark of a "poseur" :)
One clear sign of poseur is being more worried about "the brand" of the GT3 and not just on how it drives. That is very clear indicator in my eyes on how to tell them apart.
I cannot see how the touring package would affect the GT3 negatively in anything, its just more options to choose from. If it made it clearly handle worse on the street and away from the GT3 feel like if they made a Cabrio GT3 for example then yes, but for those that will drive the GT3 mostly on the street then the touring package on a GT3 is great, ironically those most likely to complain about the Touring package and impact on the image of the GT3 are the ones that rarely take it to the track but want a big wing and GT3 badge

I have to disagree, Carlos, at least for my case. My last GT3 has seen almost only track km and also my new 991.2 GT3 will be mainly used on track. And yet, it bothers me, that Porsche is marketing the GT3 as a pure track car, while on the other hand they make it softer year by year. For example, compare the current GT3 with a 996 GT3. All the rawness has gone out the window, for the simple reason to make the car more comfortable for daily use. And that's mainly the gripe I'm having with it. Introducing a touring package in a GT3 is another step into softening the car. I can see that a lot of customers are welcoming this, but why not make a new variant, like an unlimited 911R (as I said in my previous post) and leave the GT3 as a raw track day car, just like in the beginning.

My father's 73 RS (Red) had not ducktail either. He could not wrap his head around how ugly (in his mind) it seemed. He ordered the car without it.

Tim, as I felt years ago, the wing seemed out of place for a car used primarily for DD and only occasional track use. However, the wing started to grow on me. I see it as a distinguishing trait from the run of the mill 911's.I think it adds to the styling of the car and make the silhouettes of the 911 much more attractive. I do not view the wing for functionality but rather a component to enhance the look of the car.

The GT3 is Porsche's Track car. It has always been advertised as such. There are far better daily drivers than it and the GTS was introduced to act as the bridge between the Carrera and the GT3.
What's next, a touring package for the GT3 RS and the GT2 RS? ...or the CUP
Beg to differ, both GT3 and RS have served well as DD's here! DD defined as canyon slamming, hillclimbs, curvy 1-2-3-4 2 lane and some track and metal.

That said, the 991.2 GT3 has supposedly become more hardcore than 991.1 GT3.
Again, if Touring package only impacts the wing, I have nothing against it and would probably even tick the box. If it makes it softer and adds rear seats, I agree it shouldn't be on a GT3.

New Dunlop Sport Maxx Race 2 N1 is from July first delivery tire on new 991.2 GT3. Along Michelin Cup 2 N1.
New Sport Maxx 2 N1 is according to my source even better then Cup 2 N1.
Also, new Pirelli P Zero Corsa N0 is approved for 991.2 Turbo/Turbo S.

Had a 996 GT3 RS. Have a 991 .1 GT3 RS. Most of raugness is gone. I am getting too old for those heavy techy smart cars. WIth or without touring package.

Would be great if Sportauto could do a Supertest of the turbo s with the Corsas. Results should be quite impressive

exactly, they do not fold. we go on (long) trips regularly in the GT3RS and we do have the LWB's. you can fit large gym- bags rather easily by shifting the seats all the way to the front and then putting the bags in the rear (we had the cage taken out and store it for resale). no issue there, what i find more annoying is to put daily stuff in and out all the time like computer bags, jackets and so on. but it works....

Here is a pic of the rear compartment on my 911R with the LWB during my Euro trip.
The 2 suitcases left and right are carry-on size, one European carry-on size, one American. The middle bag is a 4 suit Tumi garment bag. I also have a XL Porsche carfit luggage in the front trunk.
We have to move the seats one all the way forward and one all the way backwards and load it through the middle.

All fits behind the seats and the front trunk and we could have cram more soft bags into the rear. Which we did from the shopping along the way. But don't have a pic though.
With the GT2 RS now officially release, can somebody kindly reminded me what the rumour is for other 991.2 cars prior to the 992 world beginning, I believe somebody kindly posted a brief summary some while ago, but I can't seem to find it. I believe comments were that GT3 RS was summer 2018, post GT3 production?

That's certainly a possibility, but I let that other slot go, and there's nothing definite around at the moment. I'm fairly confident more allocations will come up, but they could be towards the end of the run, which might then be close to the start of RS production..

Pretty sure Porsche doesn't want to have 3 GT models on the line at the same time.
With GT3 and GT2RS occupying the line, the next GT3RS will get produced when one of those get dropped, or both.

Sound was disappointing, especially under 3000-4000 rpm (at high revs it screams nicely ) but chassis-wise, top notch. Even on the Autobahn, the car was basically always able to keep up with the Carrera GTs but it was a Weissach car, so we didn't know exactly how much power it had under the hood.
