    AP911:

Nick you should go for the GT3RS.2 instead and you might have a change in fortunes. It must suck big time to have issues with a new car. The fender vents on the RS are worth the additional $20k.

you mean for the looks or the function?

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3 (2017)

I would lie if I said for the function. The RS has a difference presense than any other 911.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3 (2017)

But Porsche is at the top of quality surveys! Right

yes:::)))) i like the vents too.

Good questions. I can still drive the car but the leak is becoming worse. Fortunately, the oil gauge has not reflected the loss of oil just yet. Watt, they have the part but they claim it a huge job to drop the engine and access the oil tank. I am suppose to hear from my dealer's customer service about what their plan of action.

MY .1 GT3 was delayed for several months because of the recall. I have only 750 miles on this car and letting it sit for several weeks is unacceptable. At a minimum they should make my car payment while I am unable to use it.

You dealer is just dragging their feet.

It's a warranty claim. Parts department have the option of ordering replacement parts via air freight.

Dropping an engine to replace the oil tank is not a small job, but with parts handy it's no more than 2-3 days on the hoist. Heck, My foreman can and did drop the engine in the 918 and put it back up in 1.5 days. (not my car)

I think you are being generous.  Pretty sure this job could be completed in a single day if no major distractions.  R&R of drivetrain takes only a few hours on 911 and the oil tank has only a few connections (not complicated)

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3 (2017)

I met with the dealer customer support rep and service rep. I asked them what does the shop manual say regarding the time to replace the oil tank in the GT3. After some investigation it was determined it would take 12-15 hours. They acknowledged that they would have to dedicated two of their best mechanics to get the job done. They asked whether I would be patient and let the dealership clean out other service jobs so they can devote the time to my car. I agreed.

As a result, I now have an appointment for Tuesday 2/20/18 with assurance I would have the car back before the weekend. In short, Nick you're right. They did not have the manpower to take on my job immediately.

BTW, my experience with the .1GT3 served me well. I knew Porsche technicians replaced my engine in less than a day.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3 (2017)

Sorry to hear that Nick. It is a big job. Just replaced the oil tank on my Turbo at 97k miles. A bunch or other hoses, plugs, coils, clutch as well for $5k. About a three day job for my private mechanic. I would not dream of the dealer touching my car.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3 (2017)

Neither issue Nick has had should have occurred with a new GT car.  Embarrassing for the brand -- Nick is being much nicer than Sky would  be with the dealer, where he's stuck under warranty.

    Nick,

What about another dealer?  Ask the factory to find a quicker appointment.....  They can flatbed it at their expense.  Sky would use BHP [service only:)].

    Translation:

Nick, we loved you, but we don't love you that much. Your job is a warranty work with a lower per hour labour charge. So we will just do all the other PAID jobs first to make some extra money before we will get to your lower profit job.

Sorry to hear about that Nick, good luck!

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3 (2017)

Gentlemen, all good points. If the car was undrivable, I probably would have been less tolerant. But I have a very close relationship with the dealer and I am determined to keep it that way. Another dealer would have had the same problem. Also, unless I am mistaken, Porsche pays the dealership for the warranty work. So there is little incentive to delay the work.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3 (2017)

I would of also accepted what Nick's offer is . The car can be driven, so not  a problem . I usually try to not complicate the job of others if it does not really complicated my life . Shit happens . Keeping a good relationship on the long term is more important .

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3 (2017)

Porsche will pay the dealership - but probably underestimate the time taken. Hence the dealership will foot part of the bill.

Just make sure it's 100% right before you accept re-delivery as Porsche won't help them next time. (and from experience, won't care if you get a shoddy job done)

Not sure if I like the Linden Green but it is always difficult to capture those colours on pics...

Chartreuse is a great color and silver/aluminum wheels enhance it nicely. Congratskiss

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3 (2017)

Ok, last one at home.  Difficult color to capture but not going to be everyone's taste.  That the price of being different.
