    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3 (2017)

I'm going to do my oil change this weekend and will see if there any any new spots on the tray.  Hope yours is ok too.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3 (2017)

    Hi Grant,

May I ask for your help please? Could you provide us with the part number of your rear diffuser tray, when you're doing your oil change? (The part number is on the tray itself).

I'm asking because my rear diffuser was damaged during shipment, this has been replaced by my dealer using part 991-504-257-98.

To my eyes, the replacement looks smaller compared to my old tray.... I did a visual check at my local showroom. My new part looks identical to 2 other manual cars, whereas the PDK model looks different (the fins appear more substantial, and the overall tray looks .... "tougher").

I know it's a funny thing to observe, but I wonder if manual / touring cars have a subtly different rear diffuser comapared to PDK cars.

I would really appreciate if you could have a look, thanks in advance! Kenny

Hi Kenny- I just finished my oil change tonight and have just seen your post.  I’m sorry, but could be a little time before I get under the car again.  Sorry for the bad timing surprise

Oh, oh, noticed a couple of small oil marks on my garage floor. Will monitor through the weekend.surprise

I did see a little more stuff in the same spot inside my engine cover - was mixed with a little dirt, so not positive that it’s oil.  A very small amount, but I’ll continue to monitor.  If you have your dealer look at your leak, please let me know what they say.

    Thanks!

BTW, after the oil change I cut open the used filter to see what kind of debris I’d find from the first 850 Miles.  It was totally free of any visible particles and I was pleasantly shocked.  I’m used to seeing a little bit of crap in oil filters and figured it would be much worse with a brand new engine...

Are you guys sure this is oil and not some protective wax Porsche put on components?

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3 (2017)

    Thanks blueflame!

I’ve emailed Porsche.de to find out if this part number applies to both PDK & manual cars...

I believe it’s oil. It had the viscosity and smell of oil.

That is exactly how mine looked also (and it came back after cleaning the first time).  Please update this thread if you learn anything new about it.

Regarding after market exhaust systems, what I don’t understand why GT3 owners want to change the sound of the car from sounding like a Porsche to sounding like a motorcycle.yes

Not that great of a time. Maybe it's a high-speed track and conditions were bad.

The RS has fatter tires and a big wing and hence can do corners harder and faster.

but for all intents and purposes, the 4 cars in the 51s are practically tied. 0.2 seconds is well within variance of a particular driver doing laps, especially not on the same day.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3 (2017)

Not bad if it pretty much matches the RS IMO...

The Z06's time is at least 0.3 clear of the 4 car pack. That's clearly a faster car.Smiley
