What's wrong with adding performance parts from a race shop majority owned by Porsche?  Why have GT3 performance when base Boxster performance is just fine as is?

Road cars have many compromises when used on the track.  MR parts are optimized for the track (NoS in particular).

Hmm.. I wonder who would buy this stuff for a GT3?  In terms of return-on-investment, if you're looking to improve lap times, then putting this money towards an RS would probably pay off better..

I can see why someone might similarly upgrade an RS - you're at the end of the road for NA factory offerings there.

RS would benefit from all that stuff too.  The rims and suspension would retain a fair amount of their original value when sold separately from the car...

Sure an RS would benefit, too - my point was for the money, the performance jump from non-RS to RS would likely be greater than buying tuning bits for a non-RS.

I suppose.  But then we all should have bought 918's (appreciation of value, higher performance, and in US you get to be on VIP list for purchase of all limited models for 10 years) indecision

People buy that stuff because they can - and they enjoy it - nobody here makes money with having a faster or slower car than another person...

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

It would seems the MR 'package' started with the GT4 ClubSport.

Manthey tuned a car that wants to kill the driver into a pussy cat.

Apart from this GT3 package, they also offer a turn key Cup car MR too.

Watt, the GR trim on the wheel looks fabulous. I get a lot of compliments on it. Most say it breaks up the all black look of the wheels. Very rich and elegant looking. As far as being whaled on, posts attacking my car color scheme hardly register with me. I am very confident and comfortable in my car decision making.Smiley

I have not reached 9000 (yesterday I got it up to 7500).  I only have 250 miles on it. Been out of town and had it in for replacement of the front spoiler liner that was damaged while the car was unloaded either from the boat or truck. You would not believe how minor the damage was. It was completely under the car and not visible. It was nothing more than a scratch and yet Porsche insisted it be replaced. Of course it was easy for Porsche to take that step since someone else would be paying for it.indecision

Your car looks great, Nick Smiley

I've only been to 5k rpm and it's painful - I imagine that 7,500 is much better than 5k (well I know it is, since I went to 9k many times in Porsche's GT3 at Leipzig track)...

I would bring it to Manthey to get proper alignment, so approx 500km but it's snowing there as well so maybe it'll sit in the showroom in Zug for a while.

No love for Porsche’s new swanky carbon fibre wheels though? From a tech perspective I am a fan - and given the barrel makes up most of the precessional force I can imagine they should make a big difference.

    Gauss:

I had it on my 997 RS (the KW) and it was a brilliant suspension, that said the stock 997.1 suspension wasn't so brilliant so it was worthwhile. I think the 991 might not need that unless for the most extreme usage. Alignment works wonders on 911's, and an exhaust is also on the cards, because a GT3 should sing. Smiley

The mag wheels everyone fancies I guess, but the cost is absurd IMO.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

So my previous end of February build went V250 last week and now has a completed date of 1/5. It’s PTS (now termed custom color on build sheet by the way) so appears Porsche is now beginning to step up production since I doubt I’m alone.
