    Future 911's

    Anyone know or would want Porsche to bring back the rear wrap around tail lights of the past like the 993/964? I hope they do..

    i second that those look beautiful. and to top it they should do it all with LEDs (still don't understand why they haven't done already!!). they're chaper , last longer and react (important for brake lights) a lot faster.
    They should also move to a full aluminium chassis to reduce weight. heres hoping..

    Porsche will not go for an aluminium chassis. The engineers at Porsche strongly believe this is a mere marketing gimmick nowadays. Thin steel (which was not available in the 60's) is barely heavier than aluminium for the same stress resistance, but it's much, much cheaper. So thin steel, it is.

    Also, collision repair is expensive enough at Porsche already. Ask your friends with A8s or Jaguars how much it costs to fix a small colllision.

    They are using more aluminum body panels though (front hood and doors on TT and GT3)...

    aluminium repair is hell. very very expensive and you need really skilled technicians and welders or you can throw the car away.

    whatever they use is good as long as its not cheap composite platic like many american cars use.

    997's have plastic bumpers if im correct...

    This might be sacrilege, but what about some fiberglass parts here and there? I know it was used for the hood on some old 911's (if just for racing).

    I think Porsche will never bring back the rear wrap around tail lights of the past like the 993/964 and the 996 4S, which was the last one really (my favorite 996 by far was the 996 4S cab in white btw). looking at the 997, its too late now since the tail lights have been rotated a bit it seems, meaning they're not horizontal anymore. That being said, i dont think Porsche will go back to horizontal, but keep rotating somehow so make smoother designs and such..
