    Watch this F-owners

if the would have been a ferrari would it have exploded and split in half, it seems any ferrari that gets into an accident it either explodes or rips apart. Why is that?

    Re: Watch this F-owners

What's the matter? Did Nick get under your skin? Did he hurt your wittle feelings?

    Re: Watch this F-owners

    What are you talking about???

    Re: Watch this F-owners

what you say is somehow true ,even here in beirut there has been 2 or 3 ferrari who were cut in two after an accident..

    Re: Watch this F-owners

the are designed to do that. the porsche cgt also disintegrates.

This guy wasn't lucky, he was pretty damn CLEVER.
He knew what can happen...watch the video.

This video is actually very interesting from a different point of view: look how much impact a simple tree can take. Impressive...it reminds me more and more of the dangers of hitting a tree in an accident, your chance of survival isn't good.

I have to agree a little bit but regarding the "braking in half": I've actually seen this only on the Enzo. It may have to do with the compound material used, I don't know. Not sure about the Carrera GT, the pictures of Ben's accident actually showed a fully intact compound cell.

Carbon fiber has excellent tensile strength, but, has lousy impact strength.

The CGT doesn't fair any better than an Enzo.

The speed of the crash also has a lot to do with it and how lucky you are. The Ferrari Enzo that crashed in Malibu (news reports are still on TV concerning different aspects of those involved) was going 160 mph. It probably hit the pole right behind the passenger tub which is why the two occupants were able to walk away. If it hit one of the doors, I doubt if both would have survived. The breaking apart of the Enzo probably allowed them to walk away with little injuries.

    Re: Watch this F-owners

The whole point of carbon fiber moncoc is that the whole car disendigrates while the pasinger shell stays intact, the more damage there is done to the car the more energy was averted from the pasanger. Its used in F1 and they can withstand 300kh crashes with pilots just walking away.

    Re: Watch this F-owners

I saw a F355 split in two after a crash, human body parts all over the road. The pics were posted at FerrariChat and were very very dramatic. The accident was in Brazil.

You mean this crash? Only click if you have a strong stomach. Estimated speed was 135mph, so what is to be expected?

If you look at one of the last photos, it matches the bonnet intakes of a F355.

I think it's a good idea to have a rollcage in the car, along with 5-point harnesses and preferably not driving a Ferrari... The second guy was ripped to shreds!

The Brazilian press commonly put photos of this type on the front page for all to see. I'll never forgot this picture of a guy strapped to an armchair stuck in the middle of the street in a favela(shanty town), taped up and his throat cut.(he had grassed up some drug dealers).

    Re: Watch this F-owners

Why close the thread?... it's reality. This is what can happen if you drive stupid.
