    today carrera GT production comes to an end

    Bad weather in germany and a bad day: today production of the carrera GT comes to an end.
    Walther Röhrl and the press will give statements to the press and the TV in leipzig.
    Could this supercar have a own forum on rennteam.com?

    Sad news indeed, but good for current CGT owners, especially in the US, where the things can't seem to sell. My dealer still has 2 sitting on the lot and they're eating the flooring costs big time.

    If you have any English news articles regarding the end of CGT production, please share farina.

    YES! I really hope its replacement will be a road version of the 917 longtail and of course the FLAT 12...and then it will go out and ear ford gt's lile pacman.

    The biggest problem with the US supply is that it was originally scheduled to run through MY2006. When NHTSA wouldn't exempt it from new airbag rules (I believe this was it), the US production was shifted to be completed in MY2005, with the same total amount of units, and hence a seemingly over-supply. That said, I have heard that yellow is sold out, as well as at least one other color. On average, there is less than 1 car for every 2 dealers in the US remaining.

    but it should be a celebration as well for the wonderful cars that were produced!
    i wish their was a replacement coming!
    i just hope sometime in the future they try to build another supercar!

    Sad to see it end. Hopefully there will be a new CGT that carrys over some of the first models design elements.

    I know these supercars need to have a limited production run to keep exclusivity up and hence boost demand while they are being made, but it's a sad day for me. I always loved the Carrera GT.

    With the CGT being the one car I could own forever and have no desire for anything else, it is a sad day.

    Not to worry. You will be seeing much of the CGT in the new Panermera, Cayenne and other Porsche models in the future.

    PAG found out in July that the NHTSA was changing the airbag rules for everybody to 95% compliance from 100%, which allows the CGT to still be imported into the USA up until September 2006. Unfortunately I guess it was too late?

    Nah, father's, though I do have the most seat time in it. Good eye catching the Polar Silver color. Now, the GT3 is MINE.

    Amen to that. The best supercar money can buy. Much classier thn an enzo (Am I the only one who thinks the Wnzo looks foolish? If I were given the choice and money was no object i would take a cgt over an Enzo, f430, and 599 all at the same time) and that sound!!!!! I could listen to that engine all day. When it downshifts at the end of a straight, that animalistic bark. The howl in the higher rpm range! A true lemans car for the street. I cant wait for its succesor.

    cgt is awesome. never driven one unfortunately but love it.

    the greatest letdown however, is the manual box. this car had to have a dsg or pdk (which technically is the same).

    they could have borrowed the one designed for the veyron.

    The manual gearbox is part of what makes it my favorite car. It is a highly advanced gearbox with a compact pccc porsche ceramic compostie clutch and is the future of manual transmisions in high performance cars. LONG LIVE THE 6 SPEED!

    That wouldn't have been ready for the CGT, since Bugatti has taken until now to get it to work.

    The 6-speed makes it unique, not everyone can hop in and drive it. Honestly though, the gearbox is NOT a letdown at all. The clutch might be tricky at first, but once you're used to it, just like any manual. The shifter, notchy when cold, but once warm, seriously, as smooth as butter.
