If it's only $30K more, than this will be a real bargain, in my opinion.

sure, i drove a MK2 GT2, it was brilliant and wonderful and all that jazz.

but was it worth $70k more than a Turbo and nearly 100k more than a GT3? absolutely not.

Absolutely right. The GT2 is actually a 911 Turbo without the AWD and PSM. Or even better said: the GT2 is a GT3 with the 911 Turbo engine. No matter what description is more appropiate, it doesn't justify the high price tag of the 996 GT2. No way. And many owners learned that a turbo charged engine with lots of torque and power doesn't really make them faster, some of them learned it the hard way on the track where they hardly were able to follow the less powerful GT3, especially on low speed tracks with many twists and turns.

Maybe Porsche should make it simple for us: 997 Turbo and 997 GT2 at the same price tag and the same power but of course different weight. A powerkit would be available for both models, just in case people want more juice.
Since this can't work of course (even unexperienced drivers would opt for the GT2, simply because it would be the better performer), I would make the GT2 around 15% more expensive than the 997 Turbo and add another 20 horses to offer 500 HP flat.
I think such a 997 GT2 would sell pretty well.

nice economic analysis. 15-20 percent more would be more reasonable a la RS.
The stupendously egregious price tag makes it more of an issue of exclusivity in my mind:

Speaker A: what do you drive?
Speaker B: 911 Turbo, beat that.
    Speaker A: 911 Turbo S. *grins widely*
    Speaker C swoops in: GT2.

    Speaker A and B leave.

Looks smashing. That's how the TT should look like !

I don't know about Singapore but over here in Germany, the second largest market for Porsche, the 997 Turbo would NOT sell at all with such a wing. Even I wouldn't buy it. Reason: many Porsche cars are driven as company cars, you don't want to drive to your customers in a race car.

I don't want to offend anybody but Porsche sometimes has a reason for not going too much for a "bling bling" or "look at me, here I'm coming..." look. This is why they are so successful, especially in Germany, the land of the "underdog" mentality.

RC. I believe the look is driven by additional aerodynamical requirements/downforce and not by a any "bling-bling" factor and as much as I like understatement to me it just looks more like the top-end 911. Actually I never understood yr comments about "not being able to drive to customers with a Lambo etc" Eventhough you might be able to declare it as a company car I believe yr customers have the same opinion about you "arriving" in a TT with or without GT2 spoiler Regarding Singapore: Guess why they buy Porsches in a country with 90km/h speedlimit. 1st Q 06 - trippled sales....

That looks awesome....its a shame not may people like the rear spoiler, I think it bears close similarities to the racing GT3 cars.
