    996 5 Tiptronic or 997 6 Tiptronic

    I didnt drive the new 997 6speed Tiptronic but i drove Cayenne S 6speed Tiptronic and saw that 1st is very useless.
    My ex was also 996 4S with 5spee Tiptronic S that was nice tiptronic but sometimes it is breathless at 4th to 5th.
    And the low rev at 1st it was so slow. the 2nd was the best and 3 rd is quite good.
    Anyone make a difference with plus and minus points of 996-997 , 5speed Tiptronic and 6speed Tiptronic

    6-speed tips only available on Cayennes, no 911's have 6 speed tips only 5 speeds

    Like 996Cal said, the 997 Tiptronic S is 5-speed too and has NOTHING to do with the Cayenne Tiptronic, even the manufacturer isn't the same.
    The 997 Tiptronic S works pretty nice, it has been improved compared to the 996 Tiptronic...faster shifting, better fuzzy logic, easier to control shifting with the throttle.
    Add the sport chrono package to it and you'll love it, at least compared to the "old" Tiptronic on the 996. Hope this helps.

    the 997 tiptronic actually does quite a bit of torque braking when in sport modes. shifts are quite fast as well.
