Ipod Integration on MOST Update!!!!
I have some more info, that clears up a couple of the questions outstanding regarding the Dension MOST product offering.
When I spoke to Dension in Europe last week, they said that their gateway 500 MOST module was not for the US market....It turns out, that this has nothing to do with US 'v' ROW Porsches, but is due to the corporate makeup of Dension Europe 'v' Dension USA.
Dension USA is acting as a distributer for the MOST ipod integration kit NOT the manufacturer.....and they aren't distributing a re-tagged Gateway 500...It is an entirely different product made by a company called DICE electronics....However, when you see the dice products/website etc. it has a very Dension look and feel about it.....that's because the former CEO and President of Dension OWN this company!!!! Confusing or what!!
I spoke with a very helpful (and knowledgeable) lady that told me DICE will be selling thru Dension. The unit has been developed and successfully tested. It is currently being produced in quantity. I asked when it will be available, she said the end of this month...I then asked if it was really going to be ready the end of the month, and she was insistant that it would be.
In terms of functionality.....Apparently, it mimics being a cd changer (a very large one) in order to be accepted by the MOST ring. I asked if that meant it would have the same limitations as previous Dension icelinks that mimiced being cd changers (limited playlists, almost no browsing capabilities etc). Her response was that it only mimics the cd changer to access the MOST ring.....once on, it has its own controllers etc. It will have full playlist browsing, Artist browsing & Album/ASong browsing. The only thing you can't do is browse by Genre. Browsing can be accomplished by the PCM & steering wheel controls....
Hope this clears up some stuff.
