Not so sure. Why offer the CS in the .2GT3 If there will be a .2 GT3RS? The RS is the track version of the GT3.

The CS or Touring does not sound like a track version to me. Quite the opposite.

4.0L and a lower redline are baked in which sets the power limit at close to 500hp max...

495hp feels the same as 505hp (2% difference), I assure you...

Andreas Preuninger:

He confirmed that motorsport applications have proved that much more power can be extracted from the 4.0-litre engine in the GT3 RS, but his engineers won’t be going nuts.

“There is still meat left in that engine,” he says. “But don’t expect the next RS to be a 600bhp car. There’s a certain limit of adding power. Make it lighter [instead], make it feel better.”

Well... Time will tell that you are wrong. Till end of 991.2 production Porsche will introduce 3(three) new versions.

One is 991.2 GT3, second one is 991.2 GT2 RS and third one is that special Touring.

At first , that Touring sounded nothing interesting at all . After thinking about it, and if they go seriously light weight ( max 1299 kg ) , have the engine of the 991.1 GTS upgraded , manual box from the GT3 ..... then it could be actually a very nice open road fun car . But, there are probably way too many '' if' s'' in my thinking smiley

EDIT :

After reading the posts on the other thread , I now imagine the Touring to be a very light car, with the 4.0 engine of the GT3, maybe a bit detuned , and with Carrera GTS drive trains and spoilers , manual . The car would then be more practical to drive on public roads then the R ..... ( slightly more confortable and specially with more ground clearance )

Since Porsche may present the 992 in 2018 already (autumn), there has been lately a strong rumor about that, it is pretty clear that all special edition and GT models of the 991 type will be available latest until 2018.

The reason for the hurry could be the fact that VW Group needs Porsche's new sportscar platform in place as soon as possible for cost and synergy reasons.

So far, the 992 was rumored for a 2019 release.

Will this Touring have back seats??? All I"ve ever wanted was a GT3 engine, suspension & brakes in a regular 911 body with a manual and rear seats. Something I can DD with the kids in the back, row the gears, take it to the track and not blow up the engine...

If it was a little lighter with the carbon hood etc. that would be even better. really an R with back seats and no stupid pricing.

After reading the superb description of the new GT3 engine I can't help think that the GT2 engine is going to be a let down.

If it is just a tweaked 991 turbo motor then this is a disappointment for GT2 customers when the GT3 guys get a fancy new cylinder head set up allowing mega revs, special crank etc.......

Please wait until the final product shows up. Like I said before, they seem to have reduced the engine power due to a switch to a different engine concept. These are however rumors I cannot verify but of course rumors always have some truth in them. Unfortunately. Porsche will not sell people just a revamped 991.2 Turbo engine but I was hoping for a more special engine for this special car. Maybe development wins over cost calculations, let's see. The GT2 RS won't be produced in the thousands, so maybe we are lucky.
