Having owned an Artic/Black 997 and very nearly buying the GT silver/Cocoa that East London OPC had for sale recently I'd have to say I'd steer clear of putting artic with cocoa from a purely colour tone point of view. Artic is a fantastic shade for the 997 but it needs a strong interior colour like black to really give it the contrast required IMHO. Cocoa is a very rich, luxurious colour but isn't tonally correct with the starkness of Artic. GT silver has the perfect tonal quality when put against Cocoa and the two combined completely transform the car into a sophisticated, elegant sports coupe. Artic and black give it a more purposeful, stark and aggresive look if that makes sense. If you intend to keep it for a long time I'd also steer clear of Artic as silver is becoming a bit overdone in the UK these days.
Having said all of that colour choice is a very personal thing and you should really go with what your heart says and not listen to anyone else as we are biased towards our own preferences

well, well after reading this thread and deliberating over time on at least 4 different colour permutations including white/cocoa, Atlas grey/black, midnight blue/cocoa I have ordered today a C4s in arctic/cocoa. thanks everyone for helping crystalise my thoughts into a decision.

Just got home. Thanks so much for the photos. Really very kind of you. Your car is an absolute beauty. I think slate grey is really something special. I think it's a colour that I am unlikely to grow tired of (which is an important factor to me since I intend to keep the car for a long time).
I'm sure you can appreciate from my posts on rennteam that I'm really caught in two minds. The long and short of it is that I've always preferred cocoa to black...(right from the start when I first started taking an interest in a 997 in Autumn 2004). But, black does blend better with slate grey than cocoa does. So I feel like I'm being forced to choose black (even though I prefer cocoa) just because I'm tempted to go for slate grey.
My wife and I both now think we should go for cocoa no matter which exterior colour we opt for. It boils down to whether we go for arctic silver/cocoa or slate grey/cocoa. I can't live with black interior. I know that arctic will go great with cocoa but, as you may have seen from this thread, only 60% of people have voted saying they thought that slate grey/cocoa works.
At the end of the day, it's my choice so I won't let other people's votes sway me. I think I need to put a cocoa swatch on a seat at my local dealer this Easter weekend to see if I think they go well.
However, I'm particularly interested to hear your thoughts because, unlike most people on rennteam, you're one of the very few people that have actually got slate grey and you've lived with it for some time. You wrote that ideally you would have gone for slate grey/cocoa but you couldn't justify it on grounds of cost. If cost were not an issue would you still go for it? I presume you would.

Guys,
I went to my local Porsche dealer today. I saw the following colours indoors & outdoors:
- atlas grey
- slate grey
- seal grey
- black
- basalt black
- GT silver
- arctic silver
Strictly on the merits of the colour alone, I simply preferred arctic.
Then I held a cocoa swatch against each colour indoors and outdoors, and again, I loved the way arctic silver and cocoa blend more than any other combination.
So, that's it. My mind is made up. I've ended up sticking with the colour combination that I have been thinking about all this time. No more last minute changes for me. I am going to stop looking at photos now because all they do is confuse me again.
All it remains for me to say is a massive thank you to everyone that advised me. I have learnt so much from you all. I can't thank you all enough. I especially want to thank all those people that took the time and made the effort to post photos to help me choose.
Now, I just have to somehow make it through to September! Now that every tiny detail of my new car is final, I am sure I will feel the impatience growing inside me day by day.
At the moment, I just feel SO excited.

Good choice, easy. Hard to find pics where the camera flash doesn't unrealistically lighten cocoa leather-- true we've beaten this mule good'n dead...so pardon me if I file this pic (not my car)-- Belgian car, fairly accurate depiction of Arctic/Cocoa...beauty

Easy - I knew you'd make the right choice for you in the end. In fact I've been thinking about your quandary so much, I'm inclined to follow suit when I change my car next year!
