    PCA events and tracking the car questions help.

    So I am looking at getting to know my car a little better and am interested in running a few autocrosses and open track events with the PCA. I've noticed that they publish full names and results in the PCA mailers. The BMW CCA used to publish full names and results as well. The problem is that the BMW dealers were using this to not warranty customers cars based on them running the various events. Since then, the BMWCCA has stopped putting full names in the CCA mailer and only puts first name last initial. Does anyone know if Porsche dealers turn people away from tracking their car based on the PCA mailer?

    What 4 point seatbelts are others running? I would like to add Rallye 4 Schroth harness. I don't want to install a harness bar but would like to use the rear seatbelt attachments. If I do install a harness bar, I would like to get one that doesn't require cutting the interior. Thanks for the help.

    there are several dealers that sponser pca de events and are listed as pca approved pre-event tech inspectors. so it is unlikely that such dealers would object to tracking your car.
    best to check with your pca region and local dealers. not sure about 4 point. some regions may not allow that depending on how and to what the belts are mounted.

    So I've looked at the schroth website and they do not approve use with integrated headrest seats. I guess that leaves me looking for a harness bar. Has anyone found one that works well with the adaptive sport seats?

    a harness with stock seats are not a good idea and is not approved by most pca regions. so you will need racing seats (e.g. 996gt3 seats) and a roll bar to use the harness. i would run with the stock belts initially especially for autocross.

    Well, I've done a bit more research and it seems that because of the integrated head rests, I can't use the Rallye 4 belts. I ended up calling Brey Krause about their Harness Mount. They mentioned that it fit both the 996 and 997. Also the Brey Krause bar is a Harness Mount as opposed to a Harness Guide as well as has the harness loops. I will most likely get the BK as opposed to the Stable Energies. The Stable Energies is significantly cheaper $115 v $578 but I like the way the BK attaches better. The SE uses the top front seatbelt mounts and limits overall travel of the seat and is considered only a Harness Guide. The BK uses the rear mounts along with the front bottom.

    Thanks for the info; could you please update us with pics when you get the harness installed? I'm going to need a solution as well soon. I prefer to not have to yank my sport seat out just to participate in a PDE.

    i suggest that you check with your pca region or the club you plan on attending their de events. my pca region recently banned the use of harness bars. also with your stock seats you will not be able to use a 5/6 point harness. 4 point belts are not a good idea.
