Extended crank (the final chapter) or the wait begins again
Well it seems as if the saga is finally getting close to ending. In my last update Porsche NA had agreed to get me a replacement vehicle, the one requirement being I take a car from stock in North America. As I had anticipated there was nothing even close to my spec. With a little help, I was able to get an email to the CEO of Porsche NA explaining my situation and asking if he could assist. Long story short, I think that really did the trick. I received an acknowledgement back from his administrative assistant almost immediately advising me she would make sure he saw the email. Flash forward to today and I was notified today by Porsche NA that they are going to order a new car for me, to my original specs. In the interim, Porsche is going to provide me a loaner car. So while it took a little effort, Porsche NA did step up and do the right thing.
I can not say enough positive things about my dealer, Rector. The service and sales staff have been great through this whole process. Porsche NA is co-ordinating the new vehicle order through Carlsen Porsche. I'm not sure why, but they are giving me exactly what I wanted so I can't complain. I went to Carlsen today and was informed the order was already in, with a May build assigned. So I should get the new one some time in July. The staff at Carlsen were very helpful as well, not to mention they are the dealer providing me a loaner car for several months. I do wish Rector could get credit for the "sale" though.
In the big picture Porsche stepped up and did the right thing. Overall I think the whole matter has been handled well. I doubt any other manufacturer would have done better and I'm even more firmly entrenched in the Porsche camp now.
All that is left to do is turn over my current car, which should happen fairly soon I'm told. Then it's just hurry up and wait for the new car. I did take the opportunity to add 2 additional minor items to my original spec. The 6 CD changer and the colored crests.
