bluelines:What does those red arrows point at? Identical air outlets? That 991.2 seem to sport a 991.1 GT3 rear anyway. I bet we will soon see a more camouflaged one with different taillights and wing.
But not identical in size and shape, here's a better rear shot of 991.1
EVO will not test old/previous cars that already participated in previous ECOTY tests
Here are some possibilities for 2016:
- Porsche 991.2 C2 / C2S
- Porsche 911 R
- Porsche 718 Boxster
- McLaren 570S / 570GT
- BMW M2
- Audi R8 V10
- Ferrari F12 TDF
- Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2
- Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe
noone1:If they release it as a manual, and it's as good as you guys are making it out to be, it will be interesting to see what happens to 997 GT3 cars. I attribute a lot of their appreciation to the "last of the manuals" thinking.
And last Mezger motor and last hydraulic steering, and smaller chassis...

Contrary to popular belief, I've had GT3s on my mind for quite a while, but prices never came down to where I thought they should/would. At $100K, I'd be in one for sure.
I'll give you my Porsche-hate run-down:
CGT -- ugly car, sounds sweet, was tempted at low 300s, but figured I'd treat it like shit and it would cost to much to maintain, didn't expect it to appreciate, special
918 -- sweet everything, special, just out of my price range
911 GT cars -- just a normal high-end/exotic of the moment like any other brand
911 -- too expensive for what it is, can buy a 12C for the price of a new C2S
Panamera -- Ugly and don't need, but Sport Turismo looked great. Would rather have an S-Class though.
SUVs -- don't really care about performance when driving SUVs, so mainly just buying the badge
Boxster -- great looking, but I allocate my money to exotics and I'd have no reason to own a Boxster over something cooler
Cayman -- would rather have a 911 hahaha
Whoopsy:It will be THE car to get.

Until... the next generation will be available like 1-2 years later Always the same, these cars get replaced one by the other by newer and better cars. As sad as it is: cars are just consumables (except for very, very few) burning money but giving some fun (in the best case)

Whoopsy:I have see the complete car, but only in factory pictures, the front bumper will have a new design with the slates in reverse, sort of inline wit the 991.2s, the bigger rear vents are for the hotter running engine.
It will be THE car to get.

Better then the 991.1 RS ? And I am not talking about raw performance .

throt:Rossi:throt:@ blue and Gnil,
What are you two still doing on here. I thought you guys were banned..
Yeah, I heard about that, too.Come on, RC, all drinkers should be banned . ..

Gnil:Better then the 991.1 RS ? And I am not talking about raw performance .
From talking to AP and FSW, it will be the best car yet by then.
But I am still trying to figure out how they can improve on the current RS. When I sit in mine and drive it, I simply cannot see anywhere where they can improve upon. As in, I have absolutely zero complaint about the car.
I drove it on the street, at the limit on a track, at the limit on ice and the car seems so perfect.
The best thing about the current RS is that it is not limited like the 997 RS4.0 where one is afraid to drive it and damage it.

AP always says that for any new GT car that comes out . He better , if he wants to keep his job
I also do not see how they can improve it, other then raw performance . Maybe work a bit on the RWS to make it even more nimble ? PDK-S even faster and more sporty by allowing a mode that would make more ' noises and quicks ' ?
The only place where I would like improvement for the little I have driven my car yet, would be more power / speed when fully accelerating on straights in 5th , 6th and 7th gear .

Optional low gearing would help this (at the expense of Vmax, noise, and economy). Would be nice option for those of us in US...

That would be great but will never be done because of the extra fuel consumption .
I also do not care for any speed above 290-300km/h
