    Wow! What a Car!

I'm borrowing a base Boxster with Tip until the clear bra and radar detector have been installed on my new C2S Cab.

I thought the Boxster Tip was going to be a bad case of a lot of vacuum cleaner like whining with not much in the go department. It's not fast, and the Tip is horrible, but it handles beautifully and makes all the right noises. Maybe all you REALLY need is one of these with a stick shift...

I'm very much impressed. If you own one of these you have every good reason to hold your head up high.

I couldn't agree more. Sounds like my Boxy...

    Le Chef,

What did you expect- it's a PORSCHE!

    Exactly.

It's frustrating to see some 911 owners looking down on Boxsters or to hear the Boxster referred to as 'the poor man's 911.'

Don't agree. I don't get those vibes at all! I get more hostility from M3 drivers. I appreciate Le Chef posting his thoughts.

Any 911 owner who looks down on Boxsters just hasn't driven one!

Kind regards from a 911 driver who has also driven Boxsters,

Well said I completely understand a sportscar enthusiast who prefers the carrera for the different driving dynamics, roomier interior or just shape of the car, but I laugh about the "prestige buyers" who think the Boxster is not a proper sportscar (or even worse: no "real" Porsche). I guess the Boxster's image still suffers from the original Boxster's imperfections (weak engine, tricky behaviour at higher speeds, poor stock equipment).
The salesperson at my dealership told me that lot of Carrera drivers getting the new Boxster (987) as a loaner while their car has been serviced spoke with high respect of the car after they drove it. I guess time has come to acknowledge that the Boxster has found it's place as a "real sportscar" in the Porsche family (BTW: the salesperson made the remark AFTER I ordered the car )

As I said many times, find a poor man that can spend 70K on a car.

    Very well said.

Not all 911 owners think like that, and I think the numbers are getting smaller and smaller as they have an opportunity to experience the Boxster.

    Re: Wow! What a Car!

I get a lot of that crap from Mercedes and BMW people too -- ironically, they come from C, CLK, E, 3 series and 5 series owners. It's like hey buddy, wake up -- the 987S cost more than any of your cars (the way mine and probably most of the 987 owners on Rennteam is equipped), so if I drive the "poor man's Porsche" does that mean you're driving the poverty man's European car?

    Re: Wow! What a Car!

Some people are just plain stupid. Put some jealousy into the mix and you have a pretty bad combination. Why can't everyone just respect a great car for what it is?

    Re: Wow! What a Car!

Agreed. Hey Damien, anything good going on in Canada this summer? Planning on taking the Box S to Montreal again

Montreal is a great city. I'm never disappointed when I visit. There's always something happening there.

    Re: Wow! What a Car!

Unfortunately I'll not get the chance to drive a Boxster- a disadvantage of being too tall.

I've always loved how they look- likely the best rear on a P-car! No doubt a real blast to drive too!

    Re: Wow! What a Car!

Actually I prefer the rear end of the Cayman, but the Boxster S has the best front end IMHO. However, if the center cutout were actually molded into the fascia instead of merely a cheap plastic insert it would be even better.

    Re: Wow! What a Car!

IMO,the boxster looks better than the 911 front and rear .

    Re: Wow! What a Car!

OK, let's not get carried away!
