Biggest disappointment for me was that there is still no dual clutch. I'm not as down on the looks as some.

i believe the 8 speed auto is a good match for the engine. but surely it is not cutting edge tech.

I have always wanted to believe that too ( and I know this is a new engine), but every time  I drive an Aston it disappoints- and as you know I have a pretty low theshold for buying a new car Smiley .

Yes - it looks great as usual with Aston. The front looks wider and more aggressive than the DB9. Rear hard to jusdge until you see it on the road. Interiro much improved from the DB9 with Mercedes switch gear rather than Volvo/ Ford. The show cars in Geneva also has interior wood on the doors which looked good. Rear seats useless.

Personally, I think the DB11 is absolutely beautiful, best car I have seen in the Geneva show.

The Black Wraith from Rolls comes close as 2nd.

    Re: Aston DB11

Didn't like the fact that the DB9 had an auto box so ended with a Vantage instead... Plus the rear seats of the DB9 are really useless unlike the 911 or the California.

DB11 was one of the nice positive surprises in Geneva designwise. They clearly tried (and in my opinion succeded) to move away from the old DB9 design while still retaining an Aston feeling...

    Re: Aston DB11

Maybe it suffers from the same thing that happens to the DB9 (to some extent) where the proportions of the car don't come through in pictures. But since the 11 has more design elements they don't come together unless you see them in the metal. There's a few other cars that pics do no justice at all.

    Re: Aston DB11

Aston Martin wants to be last sports car manufacturer to offer a manual

Aston Martin has made a promise to save the manuals for as long as it’s possible, with Andy Palmer admitting he is not a fan of dual-clutch gearboxes because these add weight and complexity. The statement was made in an interview with Car & Driver in which he also revealed plans for a seven-model range.

Following the introduction of the DB11, the next model in line to get a replacement will be the V8 Vantage due to come out in 2017. It’s going to be the first Aston Martin to use the biturbo 4.0-liter V8 engine sourced by AMG, and Palmer admitted there are some chances of seeing the eight-cylinder on other models at some point. He went on to specify that although he prefers to offer one engine in each model, there could be demand for a V8-powered DB11 in some markets.
After the all-new V8 Vantage, Aston Martin will launch a successor for the Vanquish programmed for 2018 and we already know the DBX crossover concept will morph into a production version. The latter will be ready by 2020 and will be assembled at the company’s new factory in St Athan, Wales.

Besides the DB11, V8 Vantage, Vanquish, and DBX, Aston Martin is cooking up three other models. One of them will likely be another luxurious Lagonda-badged model, possibly a new Rapide, along with an unknown third model.
According to undisclosed sources close to AM, the hypercar co-developed with Red Bull is not considered as part of the permanent seven-model lineup because only 99 units will be made. Perhaps the same thing can be said about the pure electric RapidE due in 2018 since not a lot of those will be made.

    Re: Aston DB11

This makes sense because AM has never been a leader in performance.  Emotion, driving pleasure, brand cache, etc.  That is what they want to sell.

I suspect that it's meant to be a way of increasing the head count and range of disciplines of the design and engineering staff, but still be able to pay salaries and wages when some of those employees are not fully engaged in internal  AM car development projects.
Lotus and Porsche did the same thing for decades.

I think this car is dated, it looks good, but I´m tired of this look, it´s time for AM to refresh this model. For less you can get a Gallardo or 458 and for 50K more you get a Huracan.
