Ya I know. Wood in a porshe is not right! They will probably put a two year hold on it to get the wood just right.

I got a build month: May 2006. 
I hope to get a precise build date in May but no matter when my car will be built, I can't have it before June 24th, the "deadline".
The US "deadline" is July 8th but judging by the many claims about earlier deliveries to customers, it may be different for the US market.

Alan, official info from a Porsche official: NO customer car before July 8th, period. If you can put your hands on a car earlier, you should consider yourself a very very lucky bastard.

since my car is either completely built or nearing completion, I can look forward to some guys at the dock in Germany doing burnouts with it while it waits for delivery to the US. And then when it gets to the US port and sits for a month or so, their US dock brothers get a chance at it as well!
when my car shows up with 100 miles on it, I'm sure they'll tell me it was carefully driven to ensure its quality by Porsche test drivers

Don't worry. I'm sure they'll keep the revs below 4200 RPM for you, out of respect.

Well I feel a little better
My car is PRDQLT, which means it built and undergoing quality checks - a VIN hasn't been assigned. My dealer says that typically when they want to hold up delivery, it stays at this status for some time, (most likely in a holding pen at the factory). Also I was told that any dealers that deliver before the prescribed date gets whacked hard in their allocations by the factory. Apparently this may have happened to some US dealers letting their Cayman's go a little early.
