Well, to be honest, I think the R is somewhat a "muppet car", so we are kind of spot on here....smiley

Do you have an eating disorder or something?

Body builders at the time of competition have like 3% body fat, and they practically starve when cutting.

115 at 5'11 seems way unhealthy.

I weighed 125 in high school ..have always had VERY narrow frame and have always had to eat to keep weight on ...now that I am 60 yrs old, the 10 lb difference is natural muscle mass loss of my age ...so I look the same in pics and feel like a teenager in terms of fitness ...BP 90/55, resting HR 58 , 50 at night .

56 yr old wife( who looks  40 )  is the same..5'8" 105 lbs : exactly as in high school and also must eat a lot to keep weight on ...our parents were the same , as are our kids ...genetics !

As long as you eat a balanced diet with sufficient caloric intake (not dieting, etc) and keep active you are fine, its genetics, and the good type, though 3%body fat is not healthy, there is a minimum need health wise (fat plays important roles in brain, hromones, etc) though I doubt this is a real figure since body fat measurements are not that precise, its probably more like 5-6%.

Have you ever seen a very old and healthy/active "heavy set" person? if you look old and fit people they are very thin and lightweight frame, and a common characteristic is that their caloric intake is just at the minimum thoughout their life (along with other factors like activety, etc). I'm not talking about people that get to be very old but rather people that get to be very old and are also healthy and active as well, mentally and physically.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 R (2016)

I like to excercise first thing, like 5am, where some pink lycra and consume 30 eggs a day. I look amazing and my car handles better for it... Not long now, Press Embargo lifts 8th June on the 911R

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 R (2016)

Maybe you should ask RC to change your forum name to "HotHandLuke". "Hot" for the pink lycra, of course.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 R (2016)

At the risk of being a blasphemer, why should we care about the 911R? It's a used part special designated to reward very few people with money they don't know what to do with or have influence within the Porsche hierarchy.mail

I disagree. 997 R.S. 4.0 was the über version with über performance versus RS 3.8. The R is not, it is limited, but in reality it's a detuned version of an RS with less performance. A car for happy snob only and short term speculator. I doubt this will remain among the greats in a few decades.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 R (2016)

It is a parts special. Limited only because it drives up prices and production lines need to be dismantled.  In another model year all the same features and specs and speed will be ordinarily available.   Will it still be a good buy or be a collectors item?  Of course but don't buy it because it is fast or fun to drive. There will always be faster and more fun.

It is a parts special, but it looks so good and has an amazing presence, better than any 911 since the 993 era IMHO... It is a shame Porsche made a limited edition of it. They should make a PDK and a rear seat version and sell many go them.

Nick, I get your points and I may even agree on some. The 911 R shouldn't be a limited production car, it is actually a 911 many of us were anticipating and hoping for. I wish Porsche would make a 911 R Cab with PDK and I would probably be the first customer. Now it is too late. If they do it, they will p.ss off the 911 R customers.

However, I think that that whole 911 R story hasn't ended it, there is a good chance for a second model (911 Speedster) and maybe even a mass production model a la GT3 or GT3 RS. The decision hasn't been made yet but I know for a fact that there are some internal discussions about that. I cannot say however if and how they will pan out in the end.

For me, this is too late. If Porsche puts a 911 R with PDK or even as a cab on the market, I am already gone as a customer. Smiley

I still believe though that those, who got themselves a 911 R, will be very happy about their choice. The car is amazing according to people who have driven it (I didn't have the pleasure yet and it isn't really a priority anymore since I am not getting it) and I know these people well and I know that this is a very high praise coming from them.

Right now, I am actually more disappointed that Porsche keeps playing around with their GT models but doesn't bother to put some sort of Audi R8 Smiley, Lamborghini Huracan, McLaren 570S/650S or Ferrari 488 GTB competitor on the market. What is wrong with them? Smiley I get it, this might be a decision from within the VW Group but let's be serious here for a moment, a R8 would "fit" Porsche much better than Audi (they should stick to their excellent RS models...). Or am I missing something here? Smiley

Any kind of mid-engine R8 like car from Porsche will kill the 911 period. They all know it at Porsche so they would rather keep the 911 legacy as long as they can. Also, this so called R8 competitor will definitely not be able to bring in as much revenue as the 911's bring in. Just look at how many 911 variants are on the market, ridiculous if you ask me but hey as far that there are buyers and the cow can still produce milk then let the fun continue Smiley
