New line of Ferrari watches by Officine Panerai

As you probably know Panerai has taken over, from Girard-Perregaux, as the official Ferrari watch supplier

The new Ferrari line is now ready, please enjoy it here:

    The Special Edition:

Re: New line of Ferrari watches by Officine Panerai

Its a cool looking watch but who cares, this is a car site not a watch site or rolexforums.com or www.timeteam.com.
Plus wearing your car name on your wrist is a little bit pretentious, it like god forbid someone doesn't know you have a ferrari.

Hey, nothing wrong with a little car pride. Don't you wear any Ferrari/Porsche paraphanelia (shirt, cap, etc.) Besides, who is going to know you are wearing a Ferrari inspired watch unless you tell them or they have a good eye for detail. This is a car site. It is also an enthusiast's site, so excitement over the branding of the cars we love is a welcome contribution to the conversation.

Wow, those are very nice watches, but I prefer the Girard-Perregaux watchs, a little more sporty for my taste.

Re: New line of Ferrari watches by Officine Panerai

i dont really like them. imo wearing branded stuff like that isn't a great idea whether you own a ferrari or not.

besides, there are more beautiful panerai out there

They will retail from $5 - 30K. That's if you get one at sticker

They're OK. That design looks a little retro IMO.

Seems to me like they should have done something a little more modern like a rendition of this contemporary design.

    Here's their website: http://www.panerai.com/s_page.xpd?id_lingua=2&id_sezione=1

...but I don't like the watches

Re: New line of Ferrari watches by Officine Panerai

Sorry, each to his (or her) own, but to me I am afraid it is just tasteless bling. Want a proper watch with pedigree? - get a Rolex Daytona.

Re: New line of Ferrari watches by Officine Panerai

Or better yet, a Patek Philippe, or an A. Lange Sohne

Re: New line of Ferrari watches by Officine Panerai

does patek make a chrono? if i recall , they only have one in their lineup, much like the daytona being rolex's only chrono.

    probably expensive

Like this fantastic new (for 2006) Datograph-Perpetual watch:

    Quote:
This masterpiece by Lange is the first wristwatch that incorporates a chronograph and a perpetual calendar. It no doubt represents the most classic combination of complications, capturing the moment, the present, and eternity. Additionally, it is endowed with all of the features that make Lange timepieces so distinctive. It owes its harmonious personality to the subtly offset symmetry of the solid-silver dial

    More details here:
    DATOGRAPH PERPETUAL

Re: New line of Ferrari watches by Officine Panerai

As you may have guessed, Lange is my favourite watchmaker

Re: New line of Ferrari watches by Officine Panerai

This Double Split Chronograph ain't exactly bad either:

    Quote:
As the world's first flyback chronograph with a double rattrapante mechanism, the LANGE DOUBLE SPLIT opens up a new dimension in mechanical time measurement. Beyond the ordinary stopwatch functions of a conventional chronograph, it can also handle lap-time measurements, time comparisons, and fastest/slowest lap measurements. Its additional flyback minute counter makes it possible for the first time to use these rattrapante functions in a truly meaningful way, namely for events that last up to 30 minutes - as opposed to conventional rattrapante mechanisms that could only measure times of up to 60 seconds.

    More:
    DOUBLE SPLIT

Patek has several chronographs in their lineup, I counted at least 4 on their website. Here's one of them:

    Quote:
Annual Calendar Chronograph. Mechanical self-winding movement. Caliber CH 28-520 IRM QA 24H. Chronograph with 60-minute and 12-hour monocounter at 6 o'clock. Day, date, and month in apertures. Power reserve and day/night display. Anthracite dial, gold applied hour markers. Strap: alligator with large rectangular scales, hand-stitched, matt dark brown. Fold-over clasp. Sapphire crystal case back. Water resistant to 25 m. Platinum. Geneva Seal hallmark. Case diameter: 40.5 mm.

Re: New line of Ferrari watches by Officine Panerai

Temm I don't blame you - Sohne watches are something else...absolutely beautiful watches.

Re: New line of Ferrari watches by Officine Panerai

I really like Panerai's and have a couple of them, but knowing the brand these watches are just a bit of bling stuck on already available models. Looks more than a little tacky IMHO. The GP Ferrari watches were much classier and nicer.

yes the Ferrari logo makes them look cheap

Re: New line of Ferrari watches by Officine Panerai

I have a vintage 6265 Daytona which is now too expensive for me to wear, I just keep it in a safe all the time. I was toying with the idea of getting a Lange Flyback Chrono - does anybody think I will feel disappointed after wearing the old Daytona..I'm very undecided on this and obviously it is a lot of money. But the more I see the Lange's the more I like them. I also have a 116520 Daytona which I wear occasionally, but that is pretty 'bling' too and I like to be understated.

Re: New line of Ferrari watches by Officine Panerai

No watch is too precious to be kept in a safe...
