    Pagani Huayra

    Couldn't find Pagani thread.

Pagani Launches Lighter Huayra BC With 789hp And Carbon Everything

Despite what some rumors suggested, the Huayra BC isn't actually 100 hp more powerful than the 'standard' car, but still manages to pump out around 60 hp more, making for a total of 789 hp and 811 lb-ft of torque. All of that power comes courtesy of a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V12 engine which is coupled to a brand new seven-speed automated manual transmission sourced from Xtrac.

This new gearbox includes revised electro-hydraulic actuation as well as carbon fiber synchronisers. All told, the transmission upgrades slash shift times in half from 150 milliseconds to 75 milliseconds all while weighing about 40 per cent less than an equivalent double-clutch unit. As one would expect, the gearbox sends all power to the rear wheels.

Typically, the Pagani Huayra weighs a mere 1,350 kg (2,976 lbs), an incredible feat given its size and the massive V12 engine. Nevertheless, the Italian automaker has managed to shed 132 kg (291 lbs) thanks to the attention to detail that's made the firm famous.

Some of the key weight saving elements include a new titanium exhaust system which weighs a mere 2.9 kg (6.3 lbs) and is 7.1 kg (15.6 lbs) lighter than the standard system. Additionally, new Brembo brakes have been fitted which are six per cent lighter than previously while a further 9 kg (19.8 lbs) has been saved with bespoke forged wheels.

What's more, Pagani has developed an entirely new composite material for the Huayra BC which it says is 50 per cent lighter and 20 per cent stronger than carbon fiber. No details about this material have been given but it could be a development of carbo-titanium, also developed by the marque.

Elsewhere, the Italian hypercar incorporates a number of new aerodynamic components, inspired by Horacio's previous work with Dallara. Every single body panel is new (except the roof) and for the most part, bathed in exposed carbon fiber. Key new elements include the extended front splitter, the massive front canards, bespoke side skirts, the towering rear wing and an aggressive rear diffuser. No downforce figures have been revealed but it is inevitably a lot stickier than the standard Huayra.

Inside, the Huayra BC is just as special as the normal car but rather than the host of brushed aluminum elements like usual, it includes much more matte carbon fiber and plush alcantara. New sports seats have also been fitted.

As for the name, BC stands for Benny Caiola, a friend of Horacio Pagani and his first customer.

Just 20 units of the car will be produced and despite being priced at €2.3 million ($2.5 million) each, all have already sold.

    Re: Pagani Huayra

Do customers of high-end cars actually demand this horrific styling? It seems every hypercar facelift/update receives tasteless tuner-like addenda. yes

That said, they Huayra was never a beauty unlike the gorgeous Zonda, IMO.

    Re: Pagani Huayra

The interior looks actually quite amazing in my opinion, I'm not a fan of silver stuff but I love carbon.

The exterior? Well, that wing is a bit extreme (but maybe active aerodynamics would be too expensive and add weight?) but other than that, I think this is a very nice looking hyper car. Don't forget that owners want to attract attention, there is nothing subtle about driving such a car.

    Re: Pagani Huayra

I love it. This is essentially what the Zonda F was to the C12. And we all know how well the evolution of the Zonda model turned out, so I'd say this is a very promising first step.

    Re: Pagani Huayra

The original Huayra was very fast too. At 360 km/h!

    Re: Pagani Huayra

Holy **** that thing is beautiful.

    Re: Pagani Huayra

Mother of God!!  that is soo sexy!!!

    Re: Pagani Huayra

    The Ueber-Car! Love it!

    Re: Pagani Huayra

The interior is out of this world !!! Only thing I would change is the wheels. They seems to come from a BMW M6.

    Re: Pagani Huayra

Hmm, I guess I'm just not in sync with this era of car design. I'm really not feeling a lot of the cars debuting lately.

This Huayra BC doesn't even hold a candle to the Zonda IMO.

    Re: Pagani Huayra

Hmm, the BC has the exact same interior as a regular car, only in a different colour.

Pagani just doesn't moved me, period.

It still screams like I am a tuner/kit car manufacturer and a wannabe manufacturer. The superficial eye candy is something, but looked behind the mascara and the car is not really anything special.

Same thing with the Koenisigg. Yeah this is a one of one but we are doing 2 more of the one of one. Wow, nice touch Christian. I am sure the buyer of the first one of one is feeling great with that comment.

Why would anyone one wants a Pagani or a Koenisigg over a Bugatti? Buying a Bugatti means at least one gets a bespoke car, including the engine.

Pagani has the unreal OCD details and the CvK offering has a unique doors, I will give them those. But beyond those attributes, what else sets them apart from say a 'mainstream' Bugatti?

Pagani used to be cream of the crop in almost every respect. The Zonda was pretty much universally loved and the performance was among the best in the world. Then of course HP got cheaper and cheaper, electronics got better and better, DCT got crazy good, and suddenly having a 600-700hp in a super light weight car wasn't going to cut it. And on top of all that, hybrids were introduced and development no doubt got even more expensive.

Nowadays there is nothing terribly amazing about what's under the skin of a Pagani because performance is dirt cheap and easy to come by these days and the cutting edge hybrid stuff is probably very expensive to develop. The Huayra got smoked by the LF, 918, and P1. Back in 2005, a Zonda F was not getting smoked by anything.

I'll also say that Pagani design got pretty meh. The interior is gaudy and steampunk inspired at best IMO.

As for Bugatti, well, I think the Ksegg and Zonda were far better looking than any Veyron. And nowadays, much like Pagani fell victim to cheap power, so has the Veyron. Put $50-75K into a TT Huracan and you'll dust the new Chiron. A DCT Huracan just ran 8.9 @ 165 mph. And it's still just as usable as a stock Huracan and even comes with a warranty. It's not like back in the day where you couldn't really get sweet looking cars with big power in tuning. Nowadays, however, you can have a 2000hp Aventador rather than a 2000hp Supra.

Bugatti performance just isn't that impressive anymore. It's a rare car and a very solid package, albeit a very expensive one to buy and maintain, but the performance and usability isn't impressive anymore. It's definitely not the most beautiful car in the world, so I can see a lot of reasons not to spend $2.5M on a Chiron. Chiron will also depreciate just as bad as the Veyrons have.

    Re: Pagani Huayra

Good early analysis. However what other car can top 400kph

The Chiron is unique, it is it's own car segment and as such it has a place and will sell.

    Re: Pagani Huayra

Tuned ones? Probably quite a few if they are geared for it and you're really willing to try it on anything other than a long, wide runway.

The Chiron has it's place. It's a status car for the ultra wealthy and just meant for bragging rights in a straight line. It weighs 2000 kg and probably will still be inferior on a track to cars with much less power. I'm sure it has a nice ride and is quiet though as far as 1400 hp is concerned.

    Re: Pagani Huayra

Sorry.... but what a stupid teaser mail ... it is not teasing at all Smiley

    Re: Pagani Huayra

I guess Pagani is a work of Art and should be bought like this - because everybody who watched Hyper 5 on Youtube know's now it's not Performance that you're after in a pagani

    Re: Pagani Huayra

If you are gonna buy a car track oriented it's comprehensible this obsession with lap times. Otherwise, if we talk about a road car with ocasional track use it's kinda weird all the credit that an average driver gives to this. There are hundreds of aspects that one should consider first before a few seconds around the track.

Oh, and at the Hyper 5 show the Huayra competed against cars more modern and/or way more powerful. The comparassion was pointless to say the least.

F.e. the Zonda could be the slower car in an hypothetical Hyper 10 show and I would buy it in a heartbeat before any other hypercar.

+1. IMO Pagani have struck it with the emotional and "artistic" part of the automotive world. They're just so detailed oriented and so focused on the little things. I'd probably stare at it and obsess over the smallest thing more than drive it. Sounds sad but true.
