    Re: Cayman GT4

Congratulations Isuk , fantastic color . Suites really well the very exciting GT4 .

    Re: Cayman GT4

Very nice looking car, Birch Green, aka the closest shade to Acid Green, looks better on the GT4 than on a 911.

    ISUK:

Yes it is Birch Green. There are at least two others already in the UK and my dealer has another customer car on order in this colour which is a May build. He is going to take more photo's later today once they have taken all the protective film off it, removed the suspension transit blocks and fitted the lip spoiler. I'll be going over to see it tomorrow.

Congratulations - looks fantastic even prior to removal of packaging etc. Smiley Its a real treat to see how in general people are getting braver with their Porsche colours  - I know you were ahead of the pack any way Smiley

    Congratulations! Love the color.

Congrats, it makes an even more special car kiss

Are you planning on protecting the paint?

    Re: Cayman GT4

Yes, I am planning to put either Suntek or Xpel protection film on the car. I'm off to see it later so will get hopefully some better photo's.

    Re: Cayman GT4

Congrats ISUK! Good choice of color!

    Re: Cayman GT4

Is it just the lighting or is the front lip tape color-matched?  An exclusive option: PSTPTS (Porsche shipping tape painted to sample.)

In all seriousness, a great color, though I think either the red or yellow calipers will be a difficult match.

    Re: Cayman GT4

It looks great in Birch Green. The sun is very strong today so the light was fairly harsh and my photo's haven't really captured the colour that well unfortunately. The car had not been prep'ed in any way other than the PDI checks had all been done and the front lip spoiler fitted. Another GT4 buyer turned up as I was looking over my car and he thought the colour was fantastic. I've got the red door pulls on order to tie in with the red seatbelts and red callipers which is what my Cayman R had. I've got the heated folding bucket seats as the 918 style were constantly yo yo'ing between available and not available when I was asked to decide my spec and the day it went through they were off but PTS was open which was much more important to me.

Love it, brave spec! Was PTS completely open to choice, or were you limited?

Completely open as far as I know. I didn't try to order anything not on the approved list though. I did that back in 2007 on a Boxster with a Lamborghini colour and there was no issue getting it approved but don't know how easy it would be now as PTS is more popular when the ordering window opens up.

    Re: Cayman GT4

The color is awesome, I take it you were using a mobile phone ? maybe try playing around with the setting a little bit and give it another try.

    A quick tampering

    Re: Cayman GT4

I played around with this one and would say it is more accurate.

I remember that car very well, it was my favorite color on the Gallardo at the time and you car looked fantastic! The real-life picture of the GT4 looks gorgeous too by the way, even better than the earlier ones you posted. Smiley

1455906661399image.jpegToday I finally got to drive the Cayman GT4 Clubsport at Portimao. It was the second time I drove a Cayman on a race track and at Spa last year Inreally struggled as I'm used to 911 driving dynamics so I was a bit sceptical. As the sudpension is not adjustable for bump and rebound you can only play with camber, toe and ride hight so you have to make do what has bern chosen by Manthey and KW. My benchmark I compared the car with is a 991 with the 350 hp engine raced in VLN in category V6 ( production car with max 3.5 litre displacement, able to lap full VLN Nordschleife variant at 9 min.)

    Likes:

    - Very neutral handling

    - Playfull

    - Race PSM very good, almost no interference, very subtle, helping instead of slowing you down

    -Relentless brakes

    - Good traction

    -Stability in fast corners

    - Direct steeri g from cup

What I really had to get used to was the non assisted brakes, you really had to hammer them to get the car hauled down, the more direct steering from the Cup also needed more effort so it is quite a physical experience compared to what Imeas used to. I was slso missing the last bit of confidence in the fast corners and to rotate the car in slower corners. I wanted to drive more laps but to get there but car is very popular and we had to share with a couple of drivers.

The only real dissapointment is the engine which sounded fantastic from the outside but ibside the car coarse. The differnce to the 3.5 litre Carrera was minor.

I've added the link to one of my laps, I won't use the book of excuses but I left around 2 seconds on the table at my ability level, fastet lap was 1.57.4 from the Nordschleife lap record holder in V6.

Pretty sure that the Clubsport uses electric steering assist (no doubt recalibrated from the road car), while the Cup uses hydraulic rack (with pump spun by electric motor).  Thanks for your report! Smiley

Nice!  Are you going to race it or just have fun at that new track of yours?  Will you keep it stored at the track?

The GT4CS I will keep at my track club, not road legal anyway.

It will be a car that I will polish my skills with on a track. Fast enough but not too fast. Perhaps down the road I will graduate to a Cup car and beyond.

These were taken 2 days ago. On the last pic, from right to left is turn 16 (out last turn) 15,14,13.

The straight between turn 13 and turn 12 is done and right now turn 12 is taking shape.

By 1st week of May it should be covered, at least partially with concrete.

    Re: Cayman GT4

Will concrete be the top surface or just the base?  Usually, tracks have asphalt surface...

    Looks nice!

Gravel base, then concrete, then lastly asphalt.
