    iPod - flash (nano) or hard disk based?

    I am the happy owner of a 996C2 with the X74 (-30mm) sports suspension. I am going to install Icelink in order to connect an iPod to my CDR22 unit.

    I really would like to buy the iPod (video) with a 30GB hard disk drive, but how sensitive is the hard disk to shocks and vibrations? Will it be able to cope with my stiff suspension? Should I settle for an iPod nano which uses flash memory and thereby is not affected by shocks and vibrations?

    flash memory is better suited to rugged conditions.
    nevertheless, i never had a problem with my ipod in my car. use the radio tranmitter. its a great solution.

    I bought an iPod 60GB last friday. Used in my car already, and did not have any problems with it. (Needless to say that this is not a longterm experience )

    No problem at all. I have the 60 GB Video iPod. As long as you don't let the unit drop from time to time, you're going to be fine. Little hint: if you're ordering the black version, get a clear protective case (hard plastic). It is worth gold, I bought one at the local Apple shop, don't know the company but it fits like a glove and is made of hard plastic. Otherwise you'll have scratches on your nice iPod in no time. And you should also consider getting the 60 GB version, I already have more than 48 GB of music and videos on my unit. It fills up faster than you think as soon as you get the taste of it.

    I do have a case too. The brand says "Speck" I bought it in the apple store with my iPod. They do not appear on the site though.
