No car made by a well know name should be limited... They should make as many as they can sell (minus 1)...

    Some reliable informations:
    - hood and roof from GT3RS
    - I have told you at least ten times GT3 engine and manual
    - GT3 and rest 991 assembly parts - so not very expensive in buildung

and now something I could not believe and maybe not so reliable, price under GT3RS and above GT3.

I think the car is light ( lightweight carpet etc..) GT3 RS parts etc... for the price i have some doubt above a GT3...I think more than 200k

    Re: 911 R Thread Closed

Yes, lightweight by omitting insulation and using GT3RS materials. Also the car will get special interiour color. The car will be build form standard assembly parts (GT3 most, some GT3RS parts and the rest normal 991.1 parts).

About the price I was very confused, from a very reliable source I have heard 190.000 €. I didn´t ask with or without German VAT (19%). A price between GT3 and GT3RS is for  me unbelievable but that what I have heard.

If it is only a parts bin between 991 m Gt3 and some Gt3 RS , the price would make sense

That is what I heard also ($150k - $160k).  In US, GT3 is $131k and RS is $175k

The price of $160K USD is not c/w previous limited editions like the Speedster or the non US Sport Classic, but perhaps there is a first time for everything.

The R won't have a 'special' engine like the 4.0 in the 997 RS 4.0 version. It will run on the 'regular' GT3 3.8L engine for one.

    Re: 911 R Thread Closed

This is starting to sound almost logical.... amazing.

However if the next GT3 becomes available with a manual option, as is rumored, it would definitely clutter the space. The R would need to be blessed with many other or extra tidbits to keep a special place in the lineup which is what it is looking to be. BUT if the next GT3 is only PDK I can't picture the somewhat lower price level for the R as is being suggested...

If the R's mission is "as light as possible" then rear seats should not be included (unless optional).

the more light is possible, the principal interest of the car. I have convinced that Porsche keep the R spirit... lightweight car with a big motor ( 4.0 or 3.8) i dream to have the 4.0 :)

Even the RS is not a light car. So what if the R sheds 50lbs, it won't really change anything. Look at the Spyder, they didn't really make it lighter...

RS has huge wheels/tires/brakes and very wide body with heavy gearbox and RWS (and large battery required by rws).  R will have none of that, afaik.

The GT3 and GT3 RS have the same weight... So basically a narrow body GT3 with some of the weight savings applied to the RS? 60lbs?

Manual Gearbox alone is 66 pounds.  Smaller wheels/tires/brakes can make a big difference (especially to unsprung & rotating mass).  Standard Lightweight battery can save at least 30 pounds (can be smaller than optional lightweight batt in RS), etc...

I think something quite close to GT4 weight is possible (officially under 3,000)

So 100lbs. 3% of the weight of the car...

    Re: 911 R Thread Closed

I'm thinking around 150 lbs (don't forget to deduct weight for wheels/tires/brakes - smaller standard PCCB's?).  Remember that each pound of rotating/unsprung mass lost has the effect of losing many pounds (thinking around 7 or 8, IIRC).  It could feel quite different (more than the number imply).
