    Joost:

Yet I think it will sell like hot cakes... the normal panamera doesn't really make sense anymore now, does it?
Apart from the looks (which I think was never a strongsuit of the panamera anyway), why would you chose a regulare panny over the sportturismo now?

So what happens when the new Cayenne appears? Smiley

    Weight should be similar. Smiley

Hm, I think the target audience for SUVs and Luxury Sedans/Limousines/Station wagons only partially overlap.

In the Netherlands, SUVs are mostly bought by A) affluent women, and B) contractors (is that what you call it in English? People who own a business that builds houses, etc?).
Luxury sedans like the Panamera are mostly being driven by owners/CEOs/Upper management of larger companies and the like.

    As usual.....no comment angry

    Unladen weight (DIN): 2,035 kg

    Macan turbo DIN 1925kg...

Why are the Panamera so heavy, even the new generations?

Re: OFFICIAL: Panamera Sport Turismo expands the Panamera model line

I prefer the normal Panamera, with the 2+1 rear seat configuration it would be perfect.

True, RC, I am an admirer of the Porsche brand in general, but I would not buy many of its current model line--Macan, basic 991.2 Carrera, Boxster, or entry level Panamera or Cayenne.  And I have been consistent over the years by posting that I did no like the original Sport Turismo concept.

But to be honest with myself, guess I have to admit that I am a Porsche nut for Turbo versions with extravagant options! wink

So the Sport Turismo is only 40 kg heavier than the regular Panamera? Not bad. It is hardly to believe though, so we need to see first review weight figures first.

The weight in the back will help with the front/rear balance too.  Is there more total weight on the front or rear axle?

I guess the requirement for the design was "Make it even less attractive than the first generation Panamera". indecision

Seriously speaking, the new Panamera, and it comprises this Sport Turismo version, is the first Porsche that totally underwhelms me for as long as I can remember.  And I include the 996, Gen 1 Cayenne and Gen 1 Panamera, all of which I was not crazy about but even then I was not that disappointed.  Heavy and expensive car that is big and looks big.

Re: OFFICIAL: Panamera Sport Turismo expands the Panamera model line

    olli:

The proportions look odd again, basically the car looks too long relative to its width (even though that is quite substantial). Somehow this ruins the fix Porsche applied to the design of the Gen 2 base Panamera compared to Gen1.

As mentioned previously, it reminds me a bit of a hearse, particularly in dark colours...

    +1

Re: OFFICIAL: Panamera Sport Turismo expands the Panamera model line

Surprised that we're more than 24 hours into things and the Sport Turismo model pages, configurator and PDF brochure still aren't up on Porsche's website aside from the silly special page. At least Jaguar Land Rover is on top of things; the moment they announced the Velar [or any of their other cars for that matter], all the pages and downloads were up within seconds.

    Shame.

I accept this. The Panamera is almost a station wagon. Just the side panels are higher. And the Panamera rear window is bigger - so this gives some weight advantage. All together there shouldn't be much weight difference.

For me, the next gen Cayenne Turbo S makes more sense from various points of view but for those who don't like SUVs, the Sport Turismo may be the alternative.

I wonder what the chances of such a car are in the US? Any idea? Would Americans buy this over a SUV? Smiley

Re: OFFICIAL: Panamera Sport Turismo expands the Panamera model line

I can easily envision people buying the Sport Turismo as an alternative to another Panamera model.  I cannot envision anyone choosing the ST over any of the Porsche SUV offerings.  I don't have a lot of emotion over this Panamera variant one way or another.  Not ugly, not very attractive either.  Large, but how could it be otherwise? Seems exactly what one would expect including the price.  Anything more exotic would carry an equally exotic price that Porsche cannot pull off in its market niche which is affluent middle class.

My ex-Panamera was the most comfortable driving car in my lineup before, but I hate the tiny trunk space.  This one without the luggage cover should provide better space with the advantage of the higher back roof line.

Yes, Cayenne will provide better utility but the driving experience with sedan is quite different than an SUV.  I never cross shop a sedan vs SUV.

After saying so much, Yes, I had put in deposit for a 4 E-hybrid sport turismo yesterday.  Should I go blue again, or silver, or white...

Smiley. The 4 E-hybrid Sport Turismo will probably outsell the Turbo S. The 4 E-hybrid seems like a bargain compared to the Turbo S since it has the same E-performance package at a fraction of the price. And most people probably don't necessarily need the full 680hp and can live with only 462hp in a daily driver Smiley

For color choice, I would actually get it in silver. Think the Panamera looks great in lighter colors based on what I've seen at my local dealership and on the roads Smiley
