SciFrog:Until the facelift Macan comes up and resets the whole segment...
Not really...since it won't get a V8 (unless Porsche re-thinks their earlier planning to put a V8 into the Macan).
The Macan could have 600 hp with a V6 Biturbo and I wouldn't buy it.
Have you listened to the Mercedes 4.0 V8 Biturbo? My Mercedes sales guy was at my business yesterday with a C63 S AMG and I heard him approaching and leaving, what a nice (and subtle...so even Markus could like it ) V8 sound. With a decent sport exhaust, even louder.

RC:My German Jeep dealer said the Trackhawk will start at around 105k EUR in Germany...a bit much. My last SRT had a MSRP of 82k but Chrysler offered the car for businesses in Germany for 64k or so. Amazing offer!
The GLC 63 S AMG is still the SUV I am looking for...I am just worried it will be expensive as hell (no price announced yet).
Just wait a bit and buy a dealer car. When you check c63 prices for almost new cars (less than 5000 km), I'm sure you will be able to save a lot on a glc 63.

I think you are mistaken... The C63 isn't really a bestseller (it sells OK) but the GLC 63 is already looking at huge pre-order numbers and it seems to become a huge success, at least in Germany. They haven't even announce a price yet.
I hope you are right though, we are going to need a family car next year, no matter what my wife says.

Since my Macan is in for service because the a/c stopped working (that's two biggish issues in 6 months, so much for Porsche reliability, my RRS is still flawless), they gave me a Cayenne Hybrid loaner.
Quick review:
- great integration of the battery system, it is seamless and clever design of the feedback of the accelerator pedal
- good feedback of the system status on the screens
- good design of choice between full electric or force charge
- acceleration not bad in full sport mode (engine power plus electric boost)
- you don't fell the extra battery weight
- now for the bad: way too small battery
- pure electric acceleration is barely enough for city driving and don't count on any sportiness there
- the infotainment screen keeps crashing and overheating
- Apple CarPlay was a bit of a letdown
- the lack of digital dash is starting to be an issue on a $100k car
- my Macan full leather interior is significantly above in terms of quality
- the lack of PDK removes the playful character of the car
- handling of the Cayenne is good but the Macan is more fun
- I find it very hard to justify the premium of the Cayenne over the Macan
- fuel useage was not that different than my Macan turbo
Conclusions:
- even very well implemented hybrid is a flawed stopgap technology (anyone surprised? )
- unless you really need more space save your money and get a Macan, not a Cayenne
You should take a Cayenne Turbo S for a spin...not a hybrid.
Also, new Cayenne comes end of this year...

True about the higher tire/brake cost of Cayenne vs. Macan. But I lease my current Cayenne turbo and have a tire maintenance warranty built into the lease. it covers free tire replacement, wheel rim repair, for just a few dollars extra each month. Already used the warranty four times in just over two years...

Thanks RC. Got to admit my infatuation with the new Panamera is fading, and I am anxious to see the new Cayanne to replace my current turbo when my lease expires early next year. For my current lifestyle, with family and daily use, the Cayenne is probably my best bet. I won't be going to Frankfurt this year for press days, so I'll depend on you Rennteam professionals to keep me updated and excited!
I have a weird relationship with the Panamera: I always love seeing one but driving one is a different story. Maybe my past experience has influenced me but this car just isn't me, difficult to explain. The Cayenne? Love it but the Turbo S has reached a price level which just is too much for a family fun truck, sorry. So I am looking at alternatives...
I always loved Porsche but lately, I get the feeling that I do not get the value and driving experience I expect for my money. Got a similar feeling in the past but after getting the R8, this feeling has increased to a level I cannot ignore anymore. A few years ago I would have salivated about a car like the new GT2 RS but now?!

Gauss:why don't you buy a GT3 or GT3 RS, maybe that will rekindle your Porsche love?
Nope. Drove a GT3 RS a couple of times. Great car but at lower speeds no more fun than my 991.1 C4 GTS Cab. This car is fun when you can rev it high on a track.
GT3? Well, good offer from Porsche but it wouldn't be any improvement for me.
Like I said, the R8 ruined the 911 for me. Some people I know testdrove it and were equally impressed with the R8 but I always hear "but it is an Audi" or "if Porsche would make this, I would get it instantly", so some people care more about appearances than emotions but of course the GT3 is the better track tool if you are serious about track driving.
I need a weekend fun toy instead and the R8 is perfect in that domain.

More feedback on the Cayenne Hybrid:
- on my daily routine fuel usage was higher than my Macan turbo and close to the RRS supercharged , granted I recharged the battery by 40% which gives a whopping 4 miles on battery at a snail pace
- acceleration in city on pure battery is not adequate, borderline dangerous, in suburban environnement you cannot use electric only so the engine turns on all the time
- the battery would need to be 2 to 3 times bigger
- recharging the battery while driving takes forever
- you constantly need to push buttons to swap between charging and full electric power
- on the positive side acceleration in sport plus mode with battery boost is nice, but you will kill the battery real fast if you drive like that and you need to floor the car to get the boost, no benefit if pedal is 3/4 pressed
Bottom line: I would completely pass on it, it is an interesting technology but it is useless and if Porsche has one of the better implementations, that doesn't bode well for other hybrid brands. If the car was autonomous and basically drive slow, the default mode could make a difference, but for humans who like sporty cars like the people here, total waste of time (in the Cayenne and most likely Panamera too)
Haha you never liked the Cayenne after the Macan came out anyway :)
For me the Cayenne Turbo S is quite perfect. The right size, not too small like the Macan and not too big like the SVR.
Good enough power, the next Cayenne Turbo S with hybrid system will be better but oh well, 570HP will do for the time being.
Even gas mileage is great, it is easily 20% better than my SVR. That Land Rover is a complete fuel hog.
Canada is not the world and yes, the new Cayenne is supposed to be in Frankfurt... Availability in Germany end of this year. Unless something has changed over the past few weeks and they delayed it.

911tts:Whoopsy:Oh, and I am suppose to have a first drive of the new Cayenne next March before it officially comes onto the market.
So the new Cayenne will not be introduced in Frankfurt IAA?
introduction and for sale date can be far apart let's just say.
And RC, no, I am not talking about driving it in Canada, Porsche has a special trip made for us next year with the new Cayenne.

"Light amount of disguise"? They must be kidding. The front but especially the rear are still heavily camouflaged.

Josef:One can see already the shape of the new back lights which are similar to the ones of the Panamera as written several times here.

I'll have to see the final, but my initial impression is disappointing. The backend does look cleaner, and the bodywork above the rear wheel well looks a bit more horizontal and pronounced. Guess I was hoping for something more dramatic.
The interior will no doubt be much cleaner and improved. Maybe with this interior and and new backend, the car will be more integrated and appealing. Also, the Cayenne model range could certainly use more color options.
SciFrog:What the Cayenne needs is a cheaper price and more options standard. The rest will fall into place whatever it is.
BMW will have a similar problem with the X5 but at least they give customers in Germany (don't know about other countries) huge rebates or fantastic lease deals. The X5 M Black Edition is almost 150k EUR, nobody pays that much for a X5 over here.
I like the look of the Cayenne a lot, even the current one (with LED front lights only though).
The new one looks good (kind of a mix between the current Cayenne and the Panamera), the interior is definitely an improvement (think Panamera...) and the performance is also very good. Prices? Well...most people will buy the cheapest model, which will probably over 100k EUR with full options anyway and the rest, who can afford it, buys the more expensive models. A win/win for Porsche. Just not for me. Paying over 100k EUR for a SUV? Never again.
