If they build them into 4.0L, not many parts besides crankcase will be reused. I wouldn't really care.

Nothing geht's thrown away at Porsche- always the same since the last 68 years!!!

    Re: 911 R Thread Closed

But that would mean that Porsche would have to use new engine cases, as you cannot restamp the old ones. It would be embarrassing to use the recalled engine cases with their serial numbers belonging to the recalled engines (and few of those GT3s were delivered and registered with those engine numbers before being replaced).

    Re: 911 R Thread Closed

well it's a stunning engine indecision - good for GT3 owners

    Re: 911 R Thread Closed

Some specials are worth having. I recall the Club Sport. It was an expensive dud. This may be different but for complex reasons some may not find to be worth taking a risk on.

Are you thinking of the Sport Classic?  The Club Sport of 1988 was not more expensive than a Carrera, but was better to drive and is now worth a fortune (only 28 sold in US).

I am not first . Second at best . No , no deposit . My dealer actually never takes deposits . He has his list and that is enough for him.

Same over here. I think this is a cultural thing. In Germany I only seen deposit at Ferrari. A word is a word and hey - why taking a deposit for a most wanted car?

    Re: 911 R Thread Closed

I have a deposit with a pay deposit and the first on my Porsche center ( more than 10  request no pay deposit)

i see on the Porsche dealer computer the car is signed "win" ( i don't know what that!!!) you have an answer?

Exciting times, strange that there is so few (none?) leaks...

At this time last year we knew a lot about the GT3RS including beautiful pictures from northern Sweden and one RS parked in a garage in Germany.

    Re: 911 R Thread Closed

I think Porsche do not want to communicate in one way or another (spyshot intended or not (marketing rules ;) etc ..) as the GT3 RS.
It is easy for Porsche to hide as they can from a GT3 or Carrera body, as the car does not have a complicated aero.

    +1

What I'd really like to know is the weight of the car and the performance if the engine.

No, my dealer doesn't take deposits either but without a signed contract (order) or some sort of signed pre-order, you don't have a chance to get a car.

The US market gets most cars, then Germany. Every German dealer is supposed to get one car, maybe two depending on the size and importance of the dealership. Actually, only around 90 cars are planned for Germany.

So I highly doubt that your dealer is going to see more than two cars I'm afraid (but apparently this would be enough for you to get yours, which would be good Smiley).

Unless of course Porsche decides not to limit production but right now, it doesn't seem that way.

    Re: 911 R Thread Closed

Latest information I got is, that the car is build for those participating in official race series. The car will be super limited, and dealer are advised only allocate to buyers which are active sport drivers. However - other than the quoting of the RS - which was purely done at Porsche directly, this quote will be handled with the Porsche centers. This confirms what I heard from various Porsche dealers earlier and confirms also that I will not be able to buy such a car laugh

Does this really sound "right" to you? I didn't hear anything about this (not even a peep) and latest information I have (from last week) still indicates that in general, German Porsche dealers get one car per dealership and that the dealerships need to "propose" potential customers to Porsche and Porsche apparently chooses who gets the car, based on dealer recommendation and past customer history. Meaning: Yes, the dealers have some saying in this but the final decision lies with Porsche. If a dealer suggests only one customer, of course his chances to get a car are higher than dealers who suggests a couple of different customers.

My information is of course based on what I heard from my dealer and our sources, so it may not be 100% accurate but since almost everyone is telling a similar story, I tend to believe it. I haven't heard anything related to racing but of course Porsche is always good for a surprise, so maybe this is a new thing (which in my opinion doesn't make ANY sense).

my information is that the allocations are directly done through the country representation. No dealer will receive a car allocation.

In most countries, this is true and like I said before, the final word has Porsche. I guess they want to make real enthusiasts happy and not speculators, which is a good thing.

    Re: 911 R Thread Closed

From what I understood the local dealer does not have much weight in the allocation process. A friend of mine who has CGT, GT1 and other amazing and significant Porsches will get one despite he last bought a new Porsche many years ago. He is a real enthusiast and I guess deserves one.
