If you can get it then do.  It is a good investment - period.  Keep it for the long run and it will simply increase more.

The problem is, will appreciate more than the money it costs being invested during all that time? that is what Christian is considering, and that is very risky. It would actually make sense if he can resell it very quickly because it reduces the time that money is tied up instead of generating profits invested, but then that would be fliping it and may not be worth the consecuences down the line with Porsche.

But I really don't think Porsche cares if someone like RC flips a car.  Or anyone for that matter unless they try to dominate the market in some way.

    Re: 911 R Thread Closed

I think the issue for Porsche (and other brands) is that the potential customers of the car that do not end up getting on the list for one given the low production number will not like to see the car that Porsche did not sell them being sold to someone who just wanted to flip it for a profit instead. They would be pissed off at Porsche and Porsche does not want the extra aggravation to those good customers on top of already having had to tell them thay they were not selling them one.

    +1
That creates ill feeling between the manufacturer and genuine customers and only benefits the speculative buyers who just want a car to flip it.

. Special right will never stop .... Many Ferrari owners had to pony up for a FF to get a SA or TdF or Speciale.

Ferrari dealers, at least in our US market , seem to  operate a selling pardigm that includes  " worthiness " rights probably designed to move the " fright pig " Ferrari and Maser models  in the showroom to plump unit volume in order to increase dealership cash flow via the service bays , in order to defray their sunk costs for supporting staff, rent ,utilities, etc.

Will be interesting how some of these " relationships " will evolve as these historically mom and pop single -town multi brand operations that have run msny of the Ferrari stores for decades  are sold to the publically traded auto chains run by dispassionate revolving door  MBAs far far away who may not look kindly at these " backroom " shenanigans because they might be discovered by activist stockholders looking to stir some  "  trouble " into the stock price .

I still envy (in a positive way) those who get themselves these cars but I also have to say that I really don't like people who get these cars just for selling them. Car lovers should have the first shot.

    ...

Absolutely the same here - 100% agree Smiley

It's like saying that people should buy shares of a company to support the company on the long term, not to resell them only for profit.

Just a matter of point of view. To each his own.

I would never say that. I do not support companies long term or whatever, I buy and sell stocks to make money and to stay afloat. Smiley I couldn't care less about that company as long as it makes me money. Cars? Different story for me.

As I said before, there is a "list" (not a black list but it has the same meaning...) at Porsche and I really do not want to make it on that list. I can get many (first) cars fast but if I would brake the trust, it would never ever happen again. Believe it or not but this is true. Just imagine I would win the lottery and I could afford every single special model and they don't sell them to me because I am on that list. No, I won't risk it. Smiley Smiley

Rear treatment is not set, could still go to duck tail as standard or option. 911 cars is the number being thrown out.

Some might consider this a reward to the 918 buyers, but not all of them ordered one, and the VIP treatment only stands in the US market anyway. RoW works differently.

I guess I must be on Porsches black list because every time I have been in a showroom during my 35 years of driving Porsches they have treated me like shit. Never even offered me a test drive or talked to me.  No doubt I know more about the cars than the sales dude so who cares.  It does not bother me though since I would never buy one new. Way too expensive and I'm way too cheap.  I guess they know guys like me are not customers we are drivers.  That's okay with me.

I have never bought any since no one would even speak with me.  I should consider it a blessing and thank them. Btw i have bought only new cars for the wife and kids.  I own four new cars and my turbo.

My point is that the local Porsche dealer is an ass and the service department is a joke bordering on outright theft and larceny.  I'm certain other Porsche dealers are not like this but when over the years you always pull up in a 911 and even a Turbo and three salesmen in an empty showroom can't be bothered it is a bit strange. Keep in mind I only go there every couple of years to pick up a brochure and they have no idea who I am.

Many years back there  were very bad salesman at my dealer . The first time I went the ' chief' salesman told me , when I started to ask questions ,  '' Come back when you will know better what you want ''   !!!!!! I never spoke to this guy anymore . He got fired a few years later . I guess my jeans and t-shirt did not make him consider me as a potential customer !! I hate it when you get judged on your outside appearance and that brings so many mistakes . I have two close friends who are billionaires , one dresses in an old zip with worn jeans and the other ( she is a woman ) looks like any ' next door'  person . It is only once you start speaking to them that you get the feeling they are different Smiley

It has changed a lot now at my dealer .  When I arrive, every single staff persons says hello . Some come to shake my hand . I always get asked if I want a coffee or if I need anything else .  And I know this has been asked by Porsche headquarters .

I have always been recieved well at Porsche dealers even though I look like sh*t

Had a bad experience with our BMW dealer a couple of years ago:

I had a Saab 9-5 V6 Turbo and wanted a BMW instead: The salesman made fun of my fan-powered Saab. Remember that all BMW's where NA at the time, Needless to say I did not buy a car from that particular salesman.

Of course, everytime I meet him today I inform him that all his beemers are fan-powered.

I always am given a hard time at Corvette and Mustang dealers and the like (no chance of test drive), but the Ferrari guy threw me the keys to a 430 Spider with manual with no questions asked.  Kinda weird...

My Porsche Dealer, whom I have had for over 15 years, has provided a fantastic sales and service experience. I have purchased new and pre-owned Porsches from them and there is no difference is the level of customer service.

Funny thing, I used to visit dealers in sneakers and sweaters, hoodies. Most don't even see me.

One time  I did a visit in the 918, wear ripped 501s and a torn t, a baseball cap. What a difference.

Salesman everywhere are cut from the same cloth.

My father used to have the rolls royce dealership in Edmonton. Lots of rich farmers and oil guys from the fields. He fired a salesman once who rudely told a guy in "farm fresh" denim and farmers hat to get out of the showroom as he obviously wasn't a buyer. The guy had a massive farm and a brown paper bag of cash from selling his crop that morning. He bought a rolls in cash that day after the salesman was dealt with...
