    Manufacturers like McLaren have done so well with torsional stiffness of their tubs that even their cabs have superb rigidity. I get the impression Porsche are a bit behind the game in this aspect.

    mclaren has a carbon tub and ferrari aluminum. the 911 is - if i understand correctly still on steel technology mainly.

    A 911 Cab with a GT3 engine is one thing, specially now that it's the only NA engine left, but a "GT3 cab" is quite another though

    911 is a mixture of metals and alloys, but there's nothing stopping them using composites; BMW do on cheaper cars for instance.

    I must admit the need for a full GT3 equivalent with no roof seems a bit niche. My point was that the motor is intoxicating  and would only be more fun in an open-top car.

    AFAIMC it should have rear seats but not the RS engine

    Minus the wing, the wheels and the decals I would guess it is going to look 99% like the Cup. I am not expecting any big surprises. A gentle evolution of the 991.1 GT3 with a new front facia, rear lights from the 991.2 Carrera and new wheel designs. Voila!

    You can order them from Performance Friction - I once inquired and the price was pretty scary.  Could save some of the money back with 18" tires though...

    Actually we posted pics of almost no-camo 991.2 GT3 in late November 2016 and apart from front spoiler it do not look any similar to Cup car posted above. Wheels will be the same as on 991.1 GT3. I have all details but can not post them yet...

    991.1 GT3 strangely appeared again on the configurator... Maybe the are preparing something for Tuesday? Also, look at the strange price...

    Not only the pic is a .1 but all the technical details too. Unless the .2 is getting a 3.8l with 475hp and only PDK for 10k more than the old one angryindecision

    Kreso, I can't speak to the price but I do believe the configurator is a fake. My estimate of the .2 price is based on history rather than knowledge. Porsche typically increases pricing on second generation model around 7% unless the new model has features substantially different from the preceding model. Every I read points to incremental changes to the .2 from the .1.yes
