Now you know why Bluelines does not even go to track anymore, since he got the GT4 . Only for posing in his garage and on RT . Too embarrassed to meet up with real man

Of course mate of course. Maybe one day he will have sports car. If he does attend to a Ring meet again maybe at the start of the lap give him a head start, you know, 2 min start on yourself, then you can catch him up ..

thierry:Guys,
Agree with the collector thinking, but keep in mind as well that this 9000rpm is causing couple of motor break downs.... After the initial exchange .....
i know some people with already a second , even one with 3 exchanges ......
thta s the reason I sold the car, being a bit worried about after warranty......
any experience regarding this ?
The primary reason for engine blowing up is that those engines hasn't been properly warmed up yet before venturing to the far end of the rpm range. Or it was being babied for far too long, then suddenly got opened up.
When I was at Leipzig I had a few chat with the Porsche guys. They had a fleet of 20 GT3RS for thrashing around the track, those were delivered brand new and no break-in period needed. The key was to let the engine warmed up properly, water and oil up to operating temperature first, then it will be at the designed operating range and will have no problem getting redlined and driven hard. They say if a car is babied for a long time, then it will have trouble also, cause the GT cars are not designed to be babied, and those babied cars will also needed to be eased into hard driving gradually.
Take it for what it's worth, but I think I do trust them that way. It makes perfect sense.
If someone is really interested in the reliability issues with the 3.8L GT3 motor, this long thread has some valuable info (much of it from our friend Macca):

I don't know what the fuzz is about, seems perfectly fine to me... not! I had not expected it to be that bad. Getting a 991.1 GT3 with anything else than a G engine is off my list.
I wonder where those replaced E and F engines went? Into the 911 R?

Of course the dodgy engines are in that R thing. Guys, do you really think P just skipped the whole lot ..

In all seriousness, the R gets the 4.0L which has proven not to share any of the problems of the earlier versions of the 3.8L. This is the reason I'm excited about the 4.0 being in the next GT3, which Whoopsy says will be even further developed in reliability from the RS due to improvements made from racing the GT3R.

Porsche considered the 4.0L engine in the GT3R as a version 2.0 engine, the version 2.5 will be the one going into the next GT3, major difference compared with the version 1 which is in the .1GT3 and version 1.5 in the RS and R is that it has a completely different oiling system.

So next GT3 is the one to get The "last" NA engine and it is not built from papier-mâché like the one in the 991.1.
