    Re: 488 GTB/GTS

This launch colour is really growing on me. I saw it in person at the factory too a few weeks ago and its even better in the metal.

    Re: 488 GTB/GTS

I like the launch colour grigio ferro very much also. Here is a video to see it with different light angles on a 458.

The 488 version of that color is Metallic. Costs 7k sans VAT.

    Re: 488 GTB/GTS

is that blue made with the same paint process as the triple layer metallic ones? because it does seem to have a lot of depth and various tones to it.

Ferrari need to fire their head light designer pronto IMHO. Ever since the demise of the pop up headlight they have struggled to design something that actually looks well integrated and ever since the introduction of the 458 they have just gone for comically larger and larger lights when they new technology available should mean they get smaller and smaller. The lights on the 488 are a mess angry

I disagree. Especially the grey and silver tones suit the 488 well. Well, if you call those shades "colour"... Smiley

I know what you mean. However,  to be clear ISUK has both as do a number of others on the board. But back to the original point  - my current favourite is GT3RS owners with their giant rear spoiler and vents in the front fenders slamming the "ricer" F12tdf.

Yes  - Grigio Ferro launch car looked superb - I was going to go for that to contrast with all the light weight aggressive stuff I have coming, but then I saw this Blu Corsa colour at the factory - and it does look magnificent.

    Re: 488 GTB/GTS

I've had quite a number of Ferraris as Crayphile says (and still have a few) so feel I can comment. I've never really cared for the front end styling on any of the modern cars even though I bought them.

Lights have always been a Ferrari design weak spot IMHO with the modern era cars. They have never really found a solution that they can gracefully evolve. Quite why they feel the need to have a procession of LED turn signal bulbs taking up most of the length of the front wing I will never know.  There are 44T trucks with smaller lights indecision The headlights of the first generation of the California from 2009 at least have sensible proportions in relation to the rest of the frontal design but would have benefited from revisions to the inner design of the lights much as Porsche has done with the original 991 headlights to create the PDLS version. Instead of doing this Ferrari have just take the style of lights started on the 458 and put them on the Cali T and made them an overpowering aspect of the front design. Everyone has different taste though and some even like the headlights on the 360 angry smiley

    Re: 488 GTB/GTS

    I like the tdfSmiley

the 488 is a step backwards compared to the 458 , deseign wise , and to my eyes.  Actually I still like the 430 best as it is more masculine.   This blue shade gives the 488 something to distract from the shape. That s why I find it to be the best color for this car. It actually makes it look nice

i meant it actually rather benignly without (much) mocking. but you are so right, GT3 RS owners bashing the F12TdF as 'work of suburban car tuners' make me laugh out loud. i will be a GT3 RS owner soon myself but i happily go on record saying that the F12TdF looks so much better than the RS. had ferrari sold the TdF to me i would not have given the RS a further look or thought, much as any other squashed beetle from porsche.

    I agree.

Ferrari has two problems, when it comes to front light design: number one is the low sportscar front, which was perfectly suited for their pop-up lights, but a different task when it comes to fixed halogen/xenon-lights. Number two are their long model cycles, with a major design change only every 10, 11 years, normally they don't change much of the headlight design when they do the midlife facelift (F430 was an exception). Behause of this strategy they don't adapt quickly enough to some technical progress. Especially the new generation of LED-lights - executed correctly - would fit the low sportscar front perfectly and I'm sure we will see that in the next generation of Ferrari sportscars, means the successors to the 488, GTC4 Lusso and the F12 facelift.

And I also agree that the 360-headlights looked horrible. Smiley
