Interesting concept. Over the years, I've acquiesced toward luxury SUVs and some have become of interest, for example, the Range Rover Sport SVR, and now the Bentley Bentayga. The very first photographs left me very cold; however, after seeing the Bentayga in the sheet metal, I must admit, that I really admire the vehicle.

I've never had an SUV, but am curious to see how Land Rover replaces the Defender (OT: sorry, definitely not a competitor to Bentayga).

I have and I think the 3-door version is interesting, but some articles say the styling in these concepts was too tame and they redesigned them again. SVO could be cool. Having a vehicle like this would encourage me to explore more remote parts of Colorado (since I'm generally too lazy to hike that far from civilization).

This car wouldn't be a Defender replacement. The Defender was successful as it was sturdy and easy to fix. It didn't had to shine. It was made for countries where neither dealers are close nor spare parts are available. Replacing the Defender with another luxury SUV for soccer mums living in big cites would be very wrong.

Surging demand for $230k Bentayga has Bentley mulling more production
Strong early interest in Bentley's Bentayga, one of the world's most expensive SUVs at $230k, has sparked the automaker to consider boosting production even though only a small number have been made so far.Bentley said last fall that its first year of production was sold out, and back in December it boosted its production estimate from 3,600 to 5,500 for the first full year the model is on sale. Now, in an interview with Reuters, the automaker's CEO suggested that an even high number is under consideration.
"We are evaluating whether we can do a little bit more," CEO Wolfgang Dürheimer said on the sidelines of this week's 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
Notably, it takes about three to six times as long to build a Bentayga as it does one of Bentley's other models. Bentley quotes start-to-finish assembly times at 130 hours for the largely hand-built SUV.
Dürheimer did indicate that the automaker hasn't asked its suppliers to build more parts, so for now any production changes are merely in the speculative stages.
The Bentayga has made numerous waves, not only as Bentley's first SUV, but for its high level of opulence. For instance, it offers a $160,000 Breitling clock integrated into the dashboard as its priciest option.

most likely a gift from al habtoor (the uae bentley agent) as i believe that he would not get the first one for himself before paying tribute to the ruling family.

why would you change the car settings on the wrist? You can count time until someone crashes because he changed his seat settings on his apple watch.

I would do it every time I gave the car to a valet as he drives off.

I have a Bentayga loan car for a day and a half, and I must confess that I am impressed despite the looks. The car is very smooth and very fast. The geear change ( both auto and paddle shift) is better than my Cayenne Turbo S which really does feel like a truck after having driven ( or floated along) the Bentayga. However , the Bentayga is nowhere near as stable around bends and has literally zero feedback from the steering.

Shouldn't PDK be coming to the Cayenne soon?
Yes - certainly not worth paying list price for it. Others will know better than me about PDK in next gen Cayenne which I think will be out next year.

Very cool hands on experience
I always thought that the ride of the Bentayga must be spectacular. The look is the question of taste, but quality and drive train must be top notch! Thx again!
I don't like how the Bentayga looks and probably would hate how it drives (I'm more into "sporty" SUVs) but if I were into the market for a luxury SUV and money wouldn't be important, the Bentayga is certainly a class of it's own.
