    RWD Huracan

Rumors out today... but with perhaps some validity, since Lamborghini has in the past produced some RWD Gallardo models.  Since these Gallardos were very positively reviewed (the RWD eliminated much of the handling issues with the normal AWD Gallardo, and produced nicer steering), a RWD Huracan could be a very interesting car indeed.  Smiley (and I assume not something we will ever see from its Audi twin sister...)

    Re: RWD Huracan

Huracan can already send 100% of the power to the rear...

    Re: RWD Huracan

a RWD Huracan would be lighter and have different weight distribution

    Re: RWD Huracan

One of my friends has the 2004 Gallardo and he told me he can convert his car to RWD in a couple of hours...

    Re: RWD Huracan

The 04 ones were nasty !!

    Re: RWD Huracan

    I prefer the old bumper.

    LP580-2

    LP610-4

    Re: RWD Huracan

Gosh, this car looks like the real thing, no matter what bumper used it looks wonderful.

I wonder if the less aggressive front clip is designed to appeal to the more "value-conscious" buyer who might be interested in this.... the true power-addicts will not like the detuned engine.  But at Euro150,000 (assuming price rumours are correct), doesn't this undercut the Audi R8?    Might also tempt some 458 owners who are boycotting turbos.... Smiley

The "less aggressive front clip" is designed to increase downforce in addition to the revised rear diffusor.  I doubt that this car is more for the "value conscious buyer" as it is less of DD than the AWD variant.  According to Lamborghini, this car is more aggressive, in terms of handling and feel, than the LP610-4 model.

    Re: RWD Huracan

I would consider this car if they kept the gated manual option and they had Italian delivery

I agree.  If that would happen, I'd be camped out front of Gold Coast Lamborghini overnight.

Somehow I expect that Lambo could re-issue a manual before Ferrari would - more in keeping with the marque's focus on raw experience.  But... I expect parent Audi would have to approve the investment to make it work.... Smiley

What have they done to the gorgeous front of the Huracan ? Smiley

Looks good from this angle. Good price too, though I don't think this is going to help 610-4 coupe residuals...

On further reading, Lamborghini say that because all of the weight loss is from the front axle, a new nose was needed that added enough downforce to counteract a too-light front end; hence this design.  They might even claim that its form follows function... except another company has patented that idea....Smiley

    Re: RWD Huracan

150000 EUR plus VAT. So a Huracan LP580 would basically be at the same price level as the R8 with 610 hp. Not really a problem for Audi in my opinion.

A bigger problem could be the current prices for the former R8 V10 Plus. Already found cars, only 1-2 years old with under 15k km, for under 95k EUR. I am pretty sure I could get a good one for 90k EUR flat, cars which were sold at 180-190k EUR a year or two ago. Unbelievable. Yes, I am still thinking of getting one. Smiley

    Re: RWD Huracan

I think someone has got the pricing wrong. Base price in the UK including VAT at 20% is £155,400 (so £129,500 before tax). The base spec looks to be pretty low with things like navigation, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive suspension etc all being options. A nicely optioned car looks to be around £180-185k.

I've been told by my dealer who saw it at the factory yesterday that it looks much more aggressive than the AWD version.

    RWD Huracan or McLaren 570S?

German price is 178500€ with Mwst. Cheaper then R8 V10 Plus exactly 8900€. Also 3000€ cheaper then 570S.

    Great price IMO.

    Re: RWD Huracan

Looks better than the 610 IMO. More Aventador up front now.

That is a great question.  NA V10 > V8TT, but hydraulic steering in the 570 is going to be better.  Different flavored, but similar price and performance.  I think the Lamborghini looks better...

570S styling more flowing and less aggressive, which I like more.

love the idea of a NA V10 though ..

... but agree both are becoming quite attractive propositions.  What is fascinating is to see here is the "supercar range" moving down in price (eg. both the 570S and LP580-2) by slight re-design and re-contenting, while not really taking much away from driving excitement in the real world.  What is uncertain is whether any sales with these "junior" supercars will come at the expense of the full-on supercars (ie. buyers just pocket the difference and don't buy a 650S or a LP610-4), or at the expense of the higher-price 911s, or none of the above ie. this is a new segment who would not pay higher prices for the slightly faster supercars, nor would buy a top-line 911.

Now I know why the plane back from Bologna yesterday was full of Lamborghini dealers ! This seems to be customer segmentation taken to a new level. I still prefer the front of the AWD.

    Re: RWD Huracan

IMO, this is exactly what needs to happen. $200K is the sweet spot for exotics nowadays. You really don't need to knock on $300K to get 99% of the experience anymore.
