No. Not if you shoot RAW and then export as JPEG from Lightroom.

If you shoot JPEG your camera will process it.

Hence, you need to be careful what you mean of "post-processing". What many photographers do manually when processing the RAW photo is the very same as most cameras do when shooting JPEG. The only difference is that the photographer is far more skilled at this than the general purpose processing in the camera. In this sense, "post-processing" will generate better and more lifelike photos than straight from the camera.

These examples all worked out great; keep in mind all but the first shot have quite restricted tonal range so not that difficult for the camera to expose.  But most decent cameras (and the Leica 109 is a very good compact) nowadays process their JPEG images pretty well and take advantage of the improved dynamic range of modern sensors.  If you're happy thats all that matters... but if you ever start being disappointed with some of your shots, just know that you have the option for improvements built into your camera: just set it to take RAW and JPEG, and use one of the RAW editing tools to do tweaks on the ones you are unhappy with.  (as I recall your Leica actually comes with a pre-paid license for Lightroom....).

Post-processing is not the same as in in-camera processing. You can post-process RAW and in-camera processed jpegs. Smiley

Well, photography is one of my many hobbies related to gadgets and the cameras and lenses I have "collected" over time are more worth than your GT4 and C4 together. Smiley Smiley

Me too... JPEG is a compressed format, every time you save a file as JPEG you have a loss of quality. Lossless formats are TIFF or RAW.

I'm sorry, but after seeing so many cliche "beauty" shots here there seems to be a lack of talent at editorial, composition and lighting. Most more mediocre than postcards sold at a train station. So gear, tech driven mixed with ability to snap endless images and then hope that post will make them all wonderful. So fat they are not. Keep your day jobs.

We might disagree on editing and processing, but there's no need to be disrespectful towards anyones skills or artistic choices.

    Re: 991.1 Carrera 4S

Art is very subjective, however images for the sake of images just makes it look  boring and useless. Try capturing a special emotion with a still object or a special look on a live being and you might get what I mean. This is not a tribute to Linhof or a how to sneak pics of DDR sites with a Leica stanag kit thread, but at least strive to show something special and not outtakes from uncle Luigis 60s slide show.  Nothing personal. Think iconic. One outstanding image is worth a lot.

I only shoot RAW. Why would you want to shoot jpegs and lose all the versatility of RAW?

Why don't you show us your skills ?  I do not recall you contributing to any illustrations on this site , ever .

Maybe better stay quiet then insulting other people 's effort to bring some colors to the black and white non professional writings.

RAW has a huge advantage for those who plan to post-process the photos. I love RAW but I have to admit that I sometimes use my iPhone for some spontaneous shots, simply because I don't have a camera with me.

My favorite travel camera is my Sony Alpha 7S right now. It is an amazingly versatile camera for it's small size and somewhat low weight. Ideal for plane travel where the carry-on luggage is limited to 6-8 kg.

That has however nothing to do with being a skilled photographer or image artist. It is like saying that just because someone owns many cars they are a skilled driver. Nah. A bad measure.

Everyone is raving about the 7R II... The only problem is that it is too big.... iPhone cameras have become quite good even for some low light and to try to capture the moment, but forget about zooming or watching on a big screen.

Trust me, you can't get even close to 7S photo quality with an iPhone 6s Plus (which has the latest tech), let alone the new and even better 7S II.

Had a Canon G3X with me in Miami early this month, I just wanted to test the new zoom but came back with mixed feelings. Will let my kids play with it, the 7S with standard 24-240 zoom (surprisingly good zoom) is much better regarding picture quality/bouquet. Still a better camera than anything my iPhone 6s Plus can produce. Ever.
