    Re: 2017 Acura NSX

Honda should have avoided all this hybrid crap angry, building a light weight sports car to put their brand name and the model NSX out into the world again. Too expensive, too heavy, performance too bad, bla bla bla...not really a car any car enthusiast would want to own right now, sorry. enlightened

    agree 100%

It's US designed car, designed to appeal to techo junkies

Are you sure? Car is smaller and  cheaper 918. Yes, I really think that.

Btw, car enthusiast? You mean a group of manual die hard fans that are dreaming about Mezger, manual gearbox, no servo steering, mechnical LSD, mechanical fully track adjustable suspension 911 in 991 body shell?

Well, this group is pretty loud but, will any of them actually pay over 200K € for their dream car?

Just wait for comments for target group after announcement of 911R...

    Re: 2017 Acura NSX

It's a 918 like wowser for those buyers who still have a boss. Expect to see scads of them in the parking lots at Apple, Google and cisco. The Microsoft ferrari club members likely will denounce it because it can't make them look Butch enough for their ego needs. That said..'..it probably looks better in person and will sell well, but no way does it impart the gravitas that a McLaren does.

    Re: 2017 Acura NSX

I don't see what's not to like about the technology. Give it 300hp more and it's a 918.

hmmm, it looks good, but never ever would I buy an Acura over a Porsche, unless it is half the price...
To put things in perspective, "Acura" isn't anything of a brand here in the Netherlands, no history, no dealers, nothing... so I might be a bit biased.

Honda knows this will not do well in EU; biases against Japanese products are just too strong.  So perhaps this explains  why the car, at least initially, will be set up somewhat more approachable and user friendly, for the NA and Asian markets that are prepared to look at Japanese performance cars, and where Honda realistically expects sales to come from.

    Re: 2017 Acura NSX

The NSX is really interesting to me, it is a 918-lite.

It's direct competitor is the McLaren 570S and the NSX is a better package inside and out, outside of people who are against Japanese cars or McLaren fanboys, I don't see why anyone would want the 570S over it. I was thinking about the 570S before, wanted to give McLaren another go, but the more I read about the NSX, the more I want it. McLaren might be in trouble now for sales figures.

Honda took the big step in redesigning the car from the grounds up a couple times in order to make it work, they didn't go cheap and try to shoehorn what they want on a compromised chassis. Bravo to them. Heck, they even fitted enough tires to handle the power, basically wearing P1-sized rubber, this car will have no trouble getting power to the ground.

Take a look at your own recent experience with the 918 and RS.  You seem to be enjoying the driving experience with the RS more.  I think the 570S beats the NSX on all the same points and then some more...

    Apples and oranges.

I enjoyed the RS more simply because it is a 911. The rear engine layout is what I was used to and I felt right at home driving one. The driving style is simply different between a rear engine car and a mid engine car.

A fair comparison would be between the 918 and my Speciale and my 12C, and the 918 blows both of those clean out of the water without considering the price and limited production factor. The 918 is a monster. It will out-anything against those 2. It is more powerful, out handling both and even rides better. The extra torque from the hybrid system simply makes the car more agile. The other 2 are lighter, but it doesn't feel that way when driving, the wider tires on the 918 makes turn in quicker and sharper, and the extra grunt makes it exit corners way faster, that's agility that the Speciale and 12C cannot dream to match.

The 570S wears really skinny tires, so it will have no hope in matching just about anything on turn ins and exits.

Can you order the NSX in Canada at the moment? I hope pricing is inline with US pricing and not 1.6x

The Postmedia review was in papers this last week; they claimed starting price is $C 219,750.  I don't think McLaren's web sites ever list MSRP so no idea if that is correct.

Yes, I think Jason Cammisa has been very fair in his comments here (except I don't agree with him that they should have done a retro 90s NSX).  His explanation of real torque vectoring in a wheelchair is well done!

Yes, new Ford Focus RS also does proper torque vectoring like this, but Porsche PTV is done with braking.

For let's say 120-130k EUR, I could imagine getting the NSX. The tech is really nice and interesting.

For any amount more, no thanks. No matter how advanced or interesting the tech is.

This is a Honda for god's sake and nobody in Germany would pay more for a Honda. Never ever.

Not interested in that either (though driving reviews for Tesla are more positive than new NSX).

Look at how many people are buying a Maserati or Aston Martin instead of a Porsche, so... Smiley

Of course I wouldn't spend 120-130k EUR for a NSX if it drives like crap but technology always fascinated me and why should I lie, the new Tesla S85 attracts me a lot but I would never get one instead of my current car(s). I would get one as an additional car though, if I could really afford it (meaning that I do not care about the cost).

I am also fascinated by new technologies.  But I like my home stereo and sportcars to retain the soul of the old stuff - this is one place where I don't need fancy tricks, bells, and whistles.  Just pure excitement that draws me into a connected experience.

For my video system (including its audio) and computer stuff, newer, better, faster, etc. is just fine Smiley
