Michelin PS2 price - good or bad?

I did a search but didn't turn up prices, just recommendations.
I know that mail order (Tirerack, etc.) prices will be lower but how do these prices sound from the local Michelin dealer?
Price includes mounting and balancing but NOT tax.
    Michelin PS2 (235/40 18" front), $254.16 each.
    Michelin PS2 (295/35 18" rear), $365.93 each.
    Thanks.

These are excellent prices...the latest Tire Rack prices on these tires (w/ Porsche "N" rating) are $238/$374 and this does not include shipping, mounting, or balancing....

Re: Michelin PS2 price - good or bad?

Wow, thanks 964C2, I guess it IS a good price. They said there's also a $50 rebate from Michelin thru May 7th (I think that was the date) when you buy a set of 4.

Re: Michelin PS2 price - good or bad?

Be sure for comparison that they are N1 rated

    Michelin makes a non N1 rated PS2

Re: Michelin PS2 price - good or bad?

Good morning everyone...nice to join the forum here as a first timer, I've been reading over the last couple of weeks and am pleased to join the Porsche community here.

Those appear to be excellent prices. I just called Tire rack this morning for a replacement for the right rear Michelin Sport PS2 and they quoted me $440, but these are for 295/30/ZR19's. This was the best price I could find on the web - wonder if anyone else has found better prices. As a result, I've opted for a new set of 4 Continental ContiSportContact 2 N0 (Porsche OE) for $306 per tire for the rears.

I just purchased the car,it's a Slate Gray 2005 911 Carrera with 4000 miles, put 1000 miles on the first couple of weeks, and unfortunately got a tire puncture in the right rear tire which is unrepairable. The other 3 tires are perfectly good...wondering if there is anyone who is need of either a single rear or a set of fronts 235/35/ZR19.

I'll look to post pictures as soon as I can...not sure yet how the posting process of pictures works...

    Thanks
    Paul

Why would you not just get a new PS2 rather than a whole new set of Conti's? Call the dealer sometimes their prices are competitive as suggested above.

Re: Michelin PS2 price - good or bad?

It gets more complicated. Per Trundle997S (thanks Trundle) I called the Michelin dealer back to make sure the prices were for N1 rated tires. He didn't know but checked and said the fronts are N2 rated and the rears are N3 rated. he also said he thought that all N0, N1, N2, and N3 rated tires were all Porsche tires. He said N3s were also available for the front but would have to be ordered directly from Michelin.
    ?????????????????????????

Re: Michelin PS2 price - good or bad?

    N# question answered.
The N after the Michelin tire model description signifies that Michelin "tweaked" the tire FOR Porsche so we'd want to see the N.
The higher the number (0, 1, 2, 3) after the N signifies the latest release/manufacture/Porsche specs so we'd want the highest number there, currently a 3.
The newest PS2 made for our Porsches would carry the designation N3.

    Welcome aboard

Re: Michelin PS2 price - good or bad?

    From Michelin, f.y.i.

We appreciate your interest in Michelin brand tires.
The 'N" designation to which you are referring (i.e. N1, N2, N3) indicates a tire approved for use by Porsche. For best performance, it is recommended that all four tires have the same designation. If that is not possible, we recommend matching on each axle.
If you have additional questions, please respond to this email or you may call us at 1-800-847-3435 between 8:30AM and 6:00PM Eastern Time Monday through Friday to allow one of our Consumer Relations Representatives to assist you.

Re: Michelin PS2 price - good or bad?

    Thanks to all...
Perhaps I should elaborate on the decision to purchase a full set of Conti's. Based on the fact that my current set of tires don't have a road hazard program, I'm a bit leery of replacing 1 tire now and in a few short weeks having to purchase another one...unfortunately there is a lot of road construction here in Houston...so I somewhat figured that two PS2's is just about the same price as one full set of Conti, but now I'll have road hazard coverage as well. I had heard that the Conti's might be a tad bit noisier...hopefully they are still reasonably sticky for the fun driving...

Looking forward to seeing/hearing more from you Porsche veterans here...it's nice to be part of the group...30 years of dreaming of owning one...finally took the plunge.

    Cheers to all

If you are a PCA member, you should be able to get 10% off any purchase through your Porsche dealership....

Re: Michelin PS2 price - good or bad?

Good idea...that will be my next step...having too much fun driving the car to join the PCA...have to stop and take a moment to do that. Thanks for the suggestion.

    Regards,
    Paul
