    Audi RS6 Avant performance

I like it a lot. Really a lot.

    Re: Audi RS6 Avant performance

No other avant is as cool as the RS6, Audi are really the winners off that fight every year.

    Re: Audi RS6 Avant performance

750Nm angel That is a big number.

RS models are cool, but......their weight and weight distribution balance always seems to make them feel a bit clumsy on curvy roads at above posted speed limits. Autobahn killer yes, Alps crusher no.

    Re: Audi RS6 Avant performance

Just received my RS6avant last week, waited for few month.....  what a car!!!  its a great daily driver, soo stealth!!  if u are easy on the throttle, nobody notice a thing!!  however, if u push down abit more, the torque is just flowing out like its never gonna end.... like driving a train!!  problem is its weight... u feel it on the throttle, and pulling a heavy weight on the steering....  can't compare with 911 or 650S.... but again, its not suppose to......  Had a E55AMG before, its no where near this car!!  E55 had really bad transmission and steering... but that was about 8 years ago....  This car flip my idea of daily car!!   what a car!!!!  what a CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Re: Audi RS6 Avant performance

This is a must have car for me. Too bad Audi won't sell this sleeper station wagon in US. If they sold the A6 here at least I would have a chance at importing it now that they have the RS7.

They are pretty good indeed. Had a RS6 encounter with my GT500 over two weeks ago, the driver was actually a well known doctor here who got in trouble with he authorities for fraud. Smiley I was on my way from Munich on the A8 when he came behind me with flashing(!) lights, something not really nice to do, especially since I had someone in front of me and couldn't drive faster.

He tried to keep up with me (with no success, he fell back a hundred meters or so every time I accelerated) but the car was running pretty well (considering that my GT500 is at 991 Turbo S performance level) and kept up to a speed of slightly over 300 kph (at 320 kph on my speedo, my speedo is very accurate, he fell behind). I was pretty impressed because I actually never wanted to drive over 300 kph in my GT500 again but I didn't pay attention to the speed because I suppose I was caught up in the moment Smiley and the Autobahn was empty and when I looked at the speedo...well... Smiley

Afterwards, when traffic jammed up, he came to my right and showed thumbs up, this is how I actually recognized the guy from the press photos. Smiley He has a castle(!) near my home town, made a lot of money with lab results and testing.

Oh, after I hit 320 kph, the engine light came on, checked the error codes later on, cylinder 1 and 2 misfired. Smiley Talked to my GT500 mechanic later on, apparently nothing to worry about, it can happen. Since that time, no engine light anymore, so everything is good.

Yes, these RS6 Avants and RS7s are very fast cars.

Official 0-200km/h for RS6 Avant performance is 12.1s!

So, you need 991.1 Turbo to be faster on the autobahn. Even worst RS6 Avant performance is after 250km/h faster on the autobahn then 991 GT3 or GT3 RS. Not to mention quattro advantage on wet road.

    Impressive and very safe cars.

    Re: Audi RS6 Avant performance

but imagine the GT3 breaks at 280 km/h heavily with the RS6 behind.....angry

    Re: Audi RS6 Avant performance

You have it very wrong here. Ceramics on RS6 are very powerfull. Rather imagine a moron trying to outrun a RS6 on wet autobahn....

    Re: Audi RS6 Avant performance

I can hardly believe that a +2 ton car breaks as good as a GT3 - sorry.....no way.....

    Re: Audi RS6 Avant performance

I love the RS6 concept, discret look, great quality build, very nice interior with lots of space and above all lots & lots of torque / power to play with, I mean 608Hp is Carrera GT territory Smiley,. Wonderful package from Audi without a doubt, only down side is resale value, these cars drop like rockets in the used market.

The only reason I never got myself a RS6 is my wife: She hates station wagons.

With their weight distribution (further reinforced under heavy breaking) the Audi's can never compete with a rear engined 911. Also, the high weight puts the Audi to a further disadvantage...

    Re: Audi RS6 Avant performance

Just checked the Sportauto Supertest results: from 200 to 0 kph the 991 turbo S needed like 30m less than the RS6. From higher speeds the difference will only be much larger.

You need to read up on the laws on friction Smiley

In theory, the stopping distance does not depend on the mass of the vehicle. In reality, it get's complicated... Smiley

Higher weight = higher kinetic energy = longer stopping distance (assuming similar tires)...

    Re: Audi RS6 Avant performance

    MKSGR:
Higher weight = higher kinetic energy = longer stopping distance (assuming similar tires)...

As Bluelines says, it's more complicated than that.  Interestingly, increasing the weight of the vehicle (in addition to increasing the kinetic energy of a moving vehicle and heating the brakes more, etc.) also causes the same tires to exert more friction with the road (similar effect why downforce improves cornering and braking ability, though added mass causes other problems). This is why a 1,000kg car cannot corner twice as fast (nor lateral acceleration) compared to a 2,000kg car on the same tires.  There are many other variables to also consider, but this one is often overlooked.

30mts !!!! Are you sure of that number Smiley

    Re: Audi RS6 Avant performance

Or in other words (if 30m is corrrect but I think I remember those high numbers):

Where the Porsche doesn't move anymore the Audi is still more than 80km/h fast Smiley

Thats the reason why I am always afraid when I am going fast on the Autobahn and another car is following me. You will always have situations when even the best driver will crash into your car

    Re: Audi RS6 Avant performance

Well, here are official numbers from Sport Auto.

    991 GT3  200km/h to 0 in 129.8m

    RS6 Avant 200km/h to 0 in 154.1m

Also 80km/h to 180km/h in highest gear...

    991 GT3 in 21.7s

    RS6 Avant in 18.9s

Btw, 991 GT3 is fantasic braking car, both standard brakes and optional PCCBs. But, RS6 Avant is for 2002kg amazing as well.

    Re: Audi RS6 Avant performance

I am really starting to like the RS6. With ABT tuning it delivers 670HP and 830Nm, Swiss homologation included and warranty unaffected. Hmm  indecision

Yes, the ABT tuning possibilities without voiding the standard warranty are indeed quite interesting.

And these numbers are from cars that were tested 3 years ago. angry

    Re: Audi RS6 Avant performance

We only compared braking performance on high speed autobahn driving.

    Re: Audi RS6 Avant performance

Dyno numbers for Mercedes and BMW shows that these cars must have been prepared for this test and still both were slower than Porsche.
