    Wonderbar:

Okay, I give up.  How do you guys know it is a Turbo S?

front bumper indicates a Turbo, green brake caliper indicates a E-Hybrid

    Got it, thanks Targa Tim...

Re: OFFICIAL: Panamera Sport Turismo expands the Panamera model line

One reason why Porsche reserved the green callipers for hybrids.............

And not quite willing to PTS callipers. Yellow means PCCB, Red is the sport version of the steel brakes, black is the standard and silver is the cheap ones.

Re: OFFICIAL: Panamera Sport Turismo expands the Panamera model line

So the Turbo S doesn't come with PCCB as standard?

Re: OFFICIAL: Panamera Sport Turismo expands the Panamera model line

No it does, but Porsche paint the callipers acid green instead of speed yellow for the PCCB to reflect the hybrid genre, like the 918.

It implies regenerative braking, right?  This means that the PCCB's have much higher thermal capacity than in normal applications, since much of the kinetic energy is converted to electricity, rather than heat in the rotors.

Yes. Which is why the 918 has such an amazing brakes that will last. Up to .5G, the e-motor does all the braking. Peak braking G in a 918 is just around 1.5G if my memory serves me right, so the actual brakes are only doing 2/3 of the work, so basically they are used for braking a 2500-2600lb car instead of a 3800lb car.

A P1 maybe lighter than a 918, but it uses its brakes much harder than the 918 and hence why 918 will out brake a P1 time and time again.

But for Porsche's regular production hybrids, I believe the regen braking only goes up to 0.3G

Re: OFFICIAL: Panamera Sport Turismo expands the Panamera model line

Anyone considering a Sport Turismo?  While my interest has faded on the normal Panamera, and I will most likely opt for a Cayenne next year, I am still interested in the Turismo. Any thoughts?

Re: OFFICIAL: Panamera Sport Turismo expands the Panamera model line

Makes no sense vs the Cayenne when you factor in the price.

Re: OFFICIAL: Panamera Sport Turismo expands the Panamera model line

I think I agree, but a nicely optioned ST is a bit less than a similar Cayenne Turbo, and performance is about the same.  The real issue for me is the more generous cabin and cargo space of the Cayenne.

Re: OFFICIAL: Panamera Sport Turismo expands the Panamera model line

I got deposit in a 4E Hybrid but slowly losing interest as won't see anything till end of the year.

Might as well wait to see what the new Cayenne looks like and go from there.

Agree with SciFrog that pricewise it makes no sense, but sedan driving is different than SUV driving, that's all I can say.

Re: OFFICIAL: Panamera Sport Turismo expands the Panamera model line

Looking at your stable, it is hard to see how a Panamera would bring anything for you. You have it well covered.

Re: OFFICIAL: Panamera Sport Turismo expands the Panamera model line

I did an extensive test drive of the Panamera turbo once again and all I can say is that there's no other 4 seater that comes even close. Even with every possible option my Cayenne Turbo is agricultural next to the Panamera. No way I chose the next Cayenne over the Panamera for the family trips. My only concern is the trunk of the standard Panamera. If one doesn't mind the "different" look of the ST then it's the best solution for a family car. I loved how the Panamera drives so much that I can imagine chosing it over the 991 TTS a few times a week to go to work.

Re: OFFICIAL: Panamera Sport Turismo expands the Panamera model line

The old Panamera was nothing like you describe.

Plus you are kind of forgetting the mother of all 4 seaters: The FF and Lusso...

Re: OFFICIAL: Panamera Sport Turismo expands the Panamera model line

As much as I'd love the idea for a screaming V12 four seater the Lusso is not a valid alternative to the Panamera for too many use-cases. The idea that a Ferrari can be used as an universal, main car is an utopia. I love my 488 and emotianally it is in a different league compared to any Porsche, even the GT3 RS. But when it comes to the details that matter in everyday driving....there's no substitute for Porsche.

So my formula is simple -  for daily drivers I would only consider Porsche. For entertainment - Ferrari, McLaren and Lambo all make cars that I like.

Re: OFFICIAL: Panamera Sport Turismo expands the Panamera model line

Sport Turismo looks much better IMO. Because as a wagon it doesn't look like a blown up 911.

Quite cool in this config spotted on Autobahn:

Re: OFFICIAL: Panamera Sport Turismo expands the Panamera model line

Let's just say the Panamera is a blown up 911 and the Sport Turismo is a squished Cayenne.........

Re: OFFICIAL: Panamera Sport Turismo expands the Panamera model line

The regular Panamera has quite some road presence in my opinion. If you're cruising on the highway and you see it appear in your mirrors, first glance is always "oh a 911"... then on second glance you see it is a panamera, and it always strikes me how good it looks from rear 3/4; nicely wide, proportioned fenders, low roofline.

When I saw this movie, it struck me how much it resembles an audi avant... it just does not have the wow factor for me (judging by the pictures/videos)

The Panamera GT is the best handling & looking family car IMO. I really don't understand the need for an SUV: you just add weight and a higher sitting position, both of which alter handling, consumption, etc.

The price of this car is just insane though.

Absolutely agree. Any SUV including the best Cayenne is a big compromise for those who love to drive. The Panamera isn't. You are in total comfort, security and isolation and at the same time sitting low and incredibly agile. Nothing else delivers such a feeling.

The price seems very high I agree. If it was 600+hp it would be easier to justify but €210K for 550hp is a lot. But there's always a lot of substance in Porsche's that is not visible on paper. Take the Panamera Turbo for a test drive vs. S63 4M, 760i or S8 and you immediately feel that it's worth it. It's a bespoke super-saloon while the others are pumped up hotel limos designed for 3l diesel engines. Just the PDK is worth the price premium. It is day and night vs. even the fastest ZF auto box.

Re: OFFICIAL: Panamera Sport Turismo expands the Panamera model line

For daily driver and winter car, the higher seating position is a must. For safety too, now that crossover and small SUV are selling more than sedans, higher is better...

Re: OFFICIAL: Panamera Sport Turismo expands the Panamera model line

In that case why do you drive a Macan? It is a small SUV with a low center of gravity. Certainly less safe than a big saloon? In the winter SUV's are much more dangerous due to their weight and high center of gravity. Safety is not only only crash protection although I am sure that the latest Panamera is the safest Porsche ever made. Safety is also dynamic stability and SUV's are far less stable.

Re: OFFICIAL: Panamera Sport Turismo expands the Panamera model line

The Macan is a compromise between a full SUV and a sedan and drives better than 99% of the sedans out there. You sit high enough to not feel stuck to the ground. It is a good compromise all around, good value, very luxurious, handles well, fun with PDK and much more cargo than a sedan and the brakes/tire budget is a third of a Cayenne TT/TTS with summer tires (actually at 30k miles with the Macan, I have spent zero, at the same mileage with the TTS I already paid for two sets of tires and one brakes job, over $10k total).

But real SUV have a place too: cargo, ground clearance and third row are a must for many people.

Panamera has a place too: ultra rich people who want the best sedan and can deal with no cargo and only 4 seats. Personally I prefer to use that unnecessary extra money in a toy weekend car that I can enjoy with my kids like a Ferrari.

I agree with most that you said, that's why I am second guessing my order, as I will have to trade in the Macan for this ST 4E-Hybrid.

Out of my 5 Porsches, we use Macan the most.  Can park anywhere without worry.  Satisfy most driving needs within the city.

Good problem to have, no right or wrong answer.Smiley

Special color on the Autobahn car? Looks too red for burgundy red metallic on the configurator.

It looks to be Carmine Red and the car it is being filmed from is a Carmine red 911 targa.
