    C2 VTS - Max power through tuning? (Trying to cut some BS)

    I live in a house share when I'm working away during the week. A guy has just moved in who has a Citroen C2 VTS, which he claimes has been tuned to 210bhp. (Stock is 125bhp from the 1.6 NA engine). He seems to indicate that this has been done without forced induction - just cams, reprogramming and the like. My gut feeling is that he's a young rich kid full of cr@p, and that getting 210bhp out of a 1.6 NA would be *hard*!

    But would welcome some input from some of the more knowledgable folks on the board...

    What is it possible to get out of a stock 1.6 C2 VTS?

    Cams, full exhaust, CAI and ECU would net MAYBE 170 HP. For 210 he'd need forced induction. That's more HP/litre than a GT3, from an extremely inferior engine.

    I think he's full of cr@p too. Cheers for the 2nd opinion. The only way I could see to get that would be a nitrous kit! Agreed on the GT3 comment - that was what I thought too!

    First of all he should show you some dyno charts, anybody who converts his engine that way should be keen to know the exact specs, shouldn't he?

    I DO know that the 1600cc rallye cars in the Super1600 category (I don't even remember if this class still exists that way) have a power output of about 200 to 210 hp. The issue is that this is done by massively increasing the rev range at the topend which means more stress and therefore either shorter engine lifespan or quite a bit of expensive parts to counteract this. Since he is a rich kid...

    Cheers Ferdie - No, I asked if he had it dyno'ed but he said he haddn't So I guess he's talking out of his bottom. He gave me a lift yesterday, and it didn't feel like it had any more than stock, with a aftermarket exhaust fitted to make it sound fast. But, you never know. You're right, to go to all that expense of getting reprofiled cams and such, you'd have thought he'd have got the power output confirmed by dyno! Shame I have to share a house with him....

    he's propably got the 125 hp still but the exhaust was modified and it simply makes more noise....
