RC:absent:It's a Panamera's thread, why is it being polluted by all this electric appliance on wheels crap?
Because everyone is curious about Porsche's course with hybrids?
faster to 60? Good for you, only a total Douche is racing other cars from light to light in a city environment and this is the only reason to fame for that commuter.
I didn't start this 0-60 nonsense.
ELVs won't succeed as long as the technology changes rapidly and as long as charging takes that long and there aren't sufficient charging stations. I understand the appeal of a Tesla but wouldn't get one. At least not as a single car. Maybe as a novelty/gadget if I had enough money to afford various different cars.
That is also my view about this car. Anyway we have to give them a lot of credit for their achievement, these are the kind of companies that makes this world evolve. On my testa test drive the car impressed me me A LOT, but I missed the mechanical feel our cars have, ELVs give to much synthetic drive feel.

Of course I admire Elon Musk for his vision and his achievements, no doubt about it. He is a visionary and I would love to have a chat with him (my daughter would prefer Stephen Hawking though ) because I am curious what kind of person he is. I "only" met two billionaires personally in my life and both were extremely nice and completely different from what I've imagined. Also, no freebies... Just kidding...Elon Musk would definitely be someone I would want to meet to discuss car and visions with. Not sure I could keep up though. I just hope that Tesla is going to survive because once the other car manufacturers lick blood...oops...electricity...well...

I don´t get this "hot" kind of discussion we´re having here, Tesla vs Panamera, eletric vs petrol engines ! For me as a sports car lover it´s great to have as many choices as possible and competition is what makes the market interesting and creates better buys options for all of us, so long live Tesla, Porsche and all other car makers who are offering us new and better products every day

SciFrog:Not sure anyone of us around here could keep up with Elon. He is decades ahead of us and surrounded by people in the same time warp... For him hybrid were a thing of the past a decade ago
If you want to sell consumer articles (cars included) you better be not be too "far ahead" of the human mankind. Otherwise you go bankrupt

A walk around the sport turismo in autobild. Looks pretty good and a five seater...
Sport Turismo press release...
noone1:I think RC mentions his daughter and her scholastic abilities almost as much as he does R8 facts and tidbits.
It's a luxury to have kids who are not dumb. Even better than nice watches or boats
I married for looks and brains. My daughters turned out the same way

I really like the Sport Turismo, but I'd like a smaller (and less expensive) version. Is there still a plan to build a smaller Panamera (Pajun) or is the E-Mission intended to fill that niche?

Trunk size of 520L puts this thing 20L ahead of the Macan with all the seats up... but with the Macan Turbo starting at more than 14000 EUR less, I'll keep the change and take the little SUV. Goodness, Porsche's pricing is out of control.

I have two examples here: Apple and Palm. Both were ahead of their time with their early products but Steve Jobs somehow managed to get back on track and Palm disappeared. Sometimes it isn't always best to be the first and/or too much ahead of the competition. Consumers are often not ready for that.

+25 liter cargo capacity over the normal Panamera (520l vs 495l) and a 3rd seat that can't be used except for kids. Not very impressive. I also actually prefer the shape of the saloon.
Porsche seems to have allocation issues with the hybrids since there are so few allocations this year in Europe and the North America launch has been pushed forward. Anyone who know more about this? The 4 e-Hybrid would be the pick in the range for me. Think that is the most desirable alternative and it got decent e-range for city driving. Turbo S is for sure more appealing, but not sure the massive additional cost is worth it over the normal 4 e-Hybrid which already is really great and offer exactly the same e-Performance package as the Turbo S!
Joost:haha when I read 4+1, I was curious how they solved the issue with the central tunnel for the rear middle seat. So when I saw the interior pic, it was a big WTF moment
ALDO never believed me when I told him that this is going to be a five seater. Oh well...a 4 plus 1 seater.
My 13 year old son would perfectly fit in the middle (he is very thin) and he could keep his legs left and right (not sure how comfortable this would be though). I wonder if one can fit a child seat to that middle seat, I rather think not.

I agree the middle rear seat seems odd and pretty unusable. I also have never been a big fan of the overall exterior design. But I do think that, even in my Cayenne I rarely have three people in the back. My guess is that Sport Turismo owners will only have three people in the rear on very few occasions. I'll be at the Geneva Show next Tuesday morning and will post more impressions.

whaaaat - please do a search on my posts two years ago! I have mentioned that it will get a 2+1 rear bench!
I didn't know that they will create such a joke of 2+1 rear bench.

SportCarGroup:IMO this thing (Sport is simply ugly. Didn't expect that Porsche will produce something like that one day...It looks like hearse
I just hope they don't mess up the Mission E in the same way...
Like I said before though...I want to see the new Sport Turismo live before I make my final judgement but I don't have high hopes I'm afraid.

Exactly...
Swedish Auto Motor and Sport had in the latest issue a comparison test between BMW 750i xDrive / Panamera 4S / Tesla Model S 90D.
Model S surprisingly took the first place and got an overall rating of 47,5/60. BMW/Porsche shared second place with 44/60 points. They were surprised by how good the chassis on the Tesla performed. Steering was a home run for Porsche and interior of course also got a better rating for the BMW and Porsche.
