Speaking of the Russian Grand Prix, apparently it and the next race in Austin represent a opportunity for McLaren to equal and break a significant team record:
If McLaren fails to win either of the upcoming Grand Prix in Russia and America it will set a new record for the longest gap between race wins in the team’s Formula 1 history.
The British team will equal the current largest gap between its race victories, a sequence of 53 races held between the 1977 Japanese Grand Prix and the 1981 British Grand Prix, if it does not win this weekend’s race in Sochi.
I think they have a pretty good shot at breaking and extending this streak record.
I think the qualifying results in Sochi show that the Soft+Super Soft combination, that everyone seemed focused on after Singapore had nothing to do with Mercedes issues there. I think it's entirely an issue with the heat and humidity at Malaysia and Singapore
Cant stand this tire bullshit strategy stuff. Just have the one compound tire and let the drivers go hell for leather, with still allowing tire changes of course. Lets just have racing, well as much as we can in this complex industry.

991 GT3 pick up in October.
Pit stops are a traditional part of motorsport. They've cut out refueling, if they cut out tire changes, there won't be any pit stops, except the occasional front wing replacement. These days, the pit stops are sometimes the only exciting part of the race.
apias:... I think next year Pirelli need to bring an Ultra Soft tire.
I was just joking about this at the time, but...
...
The latest plan is for Pirelli to bring a default prime tyre, for example the soft last weekend in Sochi, and teams will be able to pick two other tyres from the range.
So you might select three sets of super soft plus three sets of the new “ultra soft”, about which not much is known as yet. It will give teams enough tyres to have some strategy options. ...
