I found one thing that pissed me off on the GT3RS. (Well they are not the only one)
So the other day I drove almost 600kms from a full tank, the gas gauge shows I am right on 1/2 tank, but the digital range estimate says I only have 250km left !!!????!?!?!??!
I drove another 120km or so after that and I am right at 1/4 mark. So either there is a invisible 1 1/4 mark on the other side of full, or the 1/2 tank mark actually means 1/4, and the 1/4 mark is actually 1/8. I really do a have a big problem with lying gas gauges.
Seriously, why do car makers are allowed to do that? I think this is a more serious issue than emissions.

Because they want you to visit the gas station more frequently and the govt is the only beneficiary

In this day of digital displays, the geometric non-linearity of the physical tank should be pretty easy to program out of the meter, so that is pretty frustrating.
Any chance you drove the car considerably harder for the first half of the tank? If not, that is way off.
It's cool to hear that you are so enamored with the RS though Nick. Spank her for the rest of us with humbler garages.

No to mention mine doesn't seem to know about my 90 litre tank.. It stays on full for ages then drops like a stone.

This must be a faulty gauge. I had this issue on the Audi and it was fixed under warranty. The problem often starts after overfilling the tank.

"Form follows function"
I hardly ever look at the gauge , never trusted them,, always on the digital range + I know more or less how much I can do with a full tank , so I also look at my resettable km gauge
I also have one complaint about the RS . it is too quiet when driving at legal speeds, even with sports exhaust on . Often it does not make any sound .

Well, that "quietness" is a huge benefite IMO. I was pretty supriesed that normal GT3 had same "quietness" at street legal speeds. My wife also likes it thay way much more. In the city most people do not nptice you too much... I kind of like it at way.

Lol, mine does that as well and I'm happy about it, at least I feel pleased with my fuel consumption for a long time.

Any one know if the engine blowing up problem has been solved? I heard that there was still an issue with the coating on the rods which was prematurely coming off and the friction then was seizing the rod and the bolts goes like a bullet through the engine leaks oil and catches on fire...

The 90 litre tank is not geometrically simple, it is a consecuence of the lack of available space. I had the same issue in my 997 GT3 RS and it has no fix. The tank is made of various parts and as far as I remember the computer calculates the remaining fuel based on some complex logic.

No one has had problems with their RS engine. If you meant to say about that purple one, that that one is the one and only reported. And the fire is not confirmed to be engine related.
The RS engine is a very tight tolerance engine, when it gets to operating temperature, then nothing will happens through out the whole certified rev range. But all bets are off when an idiot decides to redline theirs from cold.
Met my "twin" the during the weekend. I've had the car for a week and a half and so far enjoying it. Still trying to restraint myself to 4200rpms for the break-in. I like the growl above 3800rpms, but car could use more sound at lower rpms. Good for cruising though. I unplugged the valves to the exhaust and I didn't like the drone on the freeway. I'll probably reconnect the valves on my next drive. So far, very impressed with the grip and responsiveness. Love those LWB seats.

Try driving it in manual with sport exhaust and sport button engaged. The exhaust sound is much more aggressive.
Of little, to make much: That is the dream of a human life.
RC:pmpsch:Nothing beats Switzerland and the Lac Leman Grant!
You should try Lake Garda or maybe even Lake Mead in Las Vegas (if you are into desert nature).
Have to admit I admired the scenery more than your beautiful car GNIL :) but then again I am biased and while Dubai is a great city you don't get such wonderful sceneries.
Not much green in Dubai?
This being said, driving the RS in between vignards and in towns must not be very enjoyable. Thank God for the highways ;)
Felicitations elle est vraiment superbe!
I actually think that Gnil enjoys his RS mostly between vineyards and in small towns (sound reflection from the walls of buildings) or mostly on country roads. Not that much fun on highways, at least this is what I think.
Dubai is great and has got superb roads to drive...but the scenery sadly lacks the contrasting colours you can see in GNIL's pics of Switzerland ... so with you regarding Lake Garda, less so Lake Mead :)
Mike S:Hehe, thanks fellas. They really are chalk and cheese, but both bench marks in their own way. Can never tire of a proper NA engine
@crayphile: Much appreciated. You are correct!
But seeing that we are in a Porsche forum, back on topic.
Truly amazing...congrats to you Mike
What is even more amazing is the fact you got that garage in Singapour...acquisition price must buy you a full neighbourhood in certain cities
The 991 seems longer and bigger than the others...due to the perspective maybe?

The quietness is good when desired ( in normal mode ) . But when I press the exhaust button, I would like to hear the sound , and under 3800 rmp, there is nothing . The exhaust button should make a much bigger difference so you can have both worlds depending on the area / mood you drive .
What is your new avatar ? Did you forget to tell us something
@ Dave : Problem is above 3800 rpm, you are in excess speed limit most of the time !
