My neighbor just got a Model X - He said its the best vehicle he has ever owned.

He also owns a 991TTS, Z06, A8 and previously a Cayenne TT.

My wife has already made clear what she wants next....

Showed the Tesla X to my wife and first thing she asked was: Is this a Toyota?

She doesn't like how it looks and she doesn't like all those electronic gimmicks, so a clear no-go for her.

The Tesla X is one of these car that photographs very poorly, like many other modern car (Macan was one of them too). My wife didn't like the pics but was very impressed when we sat in one. It truely looks different, somewhere between a sedan, a SUV and a minivan, yet looks sporty, modern and smooth.

Oh yes that is ever true - they seem to have taken it right out of the Porsche playbook. But, the 3 will be different Elon said. The options list to tick your savings away will be a lot smaller in order to minimize complexities with assembly.

Not really. There are very few options on a Tesla and they are fairly cheap compared to Porsche. Have you actually ordered a Porsche? It is so complicated that you need a sales person to double check it.

I was merely talking about the approach not the individual price tag. Obviously Tesla has no business charging crazy Porsche figures. But you're right, i've never ordered a Porsche. Don't like that depreciation hit in the first minute off the lot

Sorry but Tesla approach is the same or even more benign that other car manufacturers. The top of the line Tesla is 60% more than a base one. For the GLS for example that number is closer to 100%, for the GLE or Cayenne it is even more. My last Porsche had 18 boxes ticked for option and left out many many more, Tesla only offers less than 10 total. Tesla is not playing Porsche textbook at all. Sorry.

That's the dirty little secret of the X. For all intents and purpose the rear seats are as convenient as a minivan, or better. Yet it is considered a SUV and looks like a crossover and accelerates like a Ferrari.

My wife loves the Huracan , and she also likes the X . She wants a Tesla ....... It' s kind of like with the iPhone ' s at the beginning . Tesla is a statement at the moment over here and considered uber cool by everyone , from car enthusiast to car haters . And I now see more Tesla then Cayennes on our streets

I only like the Tesla S, sorry. The others look better than your usual ELV/hybrid (Prius...) but aren't really design highlights. Similar to the Lexus and Infinity bunch very much adopted to US car buyers design taste. Smiley

I was thinking about buying a normal car finally, maybe an S-Class or Model S. Unfortunately there is no Tesla store around here for me to check one out. I would never pay $90K for a Model S, but I see some moderately used ones for like $60K. Unfortunately the pictures of the interior just make this car look like crap. Seems like a $90K car with a $20K car interior.

Unfortunately the pictures of the interior just make this car look like crap. Seems like a $90K car with a $20K car interior.

From the couple of Model S I have seen in person, this is exactly true. I have had rental beaters with nicer interiors.... just shows the buyers of these vehicles value the EV aspect so highly that they just look away when they sit in it. Though I have heard an owner say that the big TV screen is amazing (thus distracts from the so-so interior quality you mention).

No, this never happened (and probably will never happen...over a period of 50 years or so Smiley ).

However, it seems that many (mostly older but not really old) Diesel cars will not be allowed (anymore) in Germany cities (downtown) soon but the debate isn't over yet.
