    Re: Cayman GT4

Just having a blast at the Ring - car works really well here.  Best lap so far is 8:47 BTG and I felt like that was not bad for my second day here ever.  The Scuderia S7 class is really great for learning the track - I'm amazed that I was able to lap by myself at the end of the first day and have a fairly good idea of my way around.  Thought that would require weeks.

I've been running in a fast group with GT3, RS, MacLaren 12C, etc and the GT4 is only really outclassed in the uphill sections where the power deficit is really apparent.  It doesn't give away much if anything in the corners.  Really fun!!

    So Grant....

What about the understeer that so many have observed? Thoughts about the gearing?

Gearing is perfect for the Ring and autobahn (but not in USA).  Just a hint of understeer at Ring (was reassuring there). Won't know how much there is until I try some slower corners at other tracks.

Porsche-Jeck led me through some windy switchback slow corners near the Ring at a good pace and on some of those I would have liked a gear between 1st and 2nd.

    So Grant....

Quite a bit of understeer at Spa (quite a few 2nd and 3rd gear corners).  People who track these cars seriously say you need aftermarket suspension pieces to add adequate camber safely.  Gearing could be a little shorter at Spa (seems like you're in 4th gear for a very long time after Eau Rouge), but still not a big problem here.

Spa is very fun, but seems like a different sport compared to the Nordschleife.  I really like the Ring much more (nothing I've tried comes close).

    Re: Cayman GT4

I loved the S7 course and it was perfect for my first time.  I'm wondering if for really experienced drivers like Kobalt whether it is too introductory for the first day after several years or whether this is just a good tune-up after have by been away from the track awhile?

    Re: Cayman GT4

I think S7 is a perfect introduction to the Ring.

But if you already know the ring you want more personal feedback.

You will get more feedback at Scuderia Hanseat. In your case I would sugest the Scuderia Hanseat the next time.

For myself I probably do better on trackdays with personal coaches but I like the Scuderia Hanseat and we are a really big group of Swedes going there (+50 the last time).
It has turned out to be a social event as well - I didn't expect that the first time I did the SH.
So now I will do it more for the fun of it and fact is that I'm still improving at SH.

At S7 I really missed having a nice dinner with a lot of drinking together with my group to celebrate the progress and talking about the days that been.
But as Monika and I went to Spa in the evening it was probably good for us
