    seriously impressive !

OK, I'll bite.  What's a "potted water pump" in the cooling system?

Interesting that the PCCB brakes on this car are even bigger than on 918 and GT cars - both larger diameter and thicker.  Wonder if this is necessary with regen braking.  Maybe 991.2 GT cars get these also?  Is it possible that the cost for these is going to be even higher?  Current ones around $20k for 4 rotors...

Just noticed 10-piston calipers too! angel

It's definitely not enough in this league. 600 is the new 500 :) With a 400kg penalty I am not interested at all in the Turbo S Hybrid and yet I would like a saloon with maximum performance.

Re: Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid - Most powerful Panamera (2017)

Porsche went a different approach for various (marketing) reasons I've been told.

I agree, the Turbo S should have at least 800 hp with this kind of weight but apparently Porsche thought that this is the way to go and I hope they are right. yes

They can always add more power for the facelift if necessary...

Re: Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid - Most powerful Panamera (2017)

No breathtaking figures as some rumours hinted at first. Plus way too heavy. Not the most beautiful design to my eyes either.

Impressive car though. For sure it shall be much more appealing with the Sport Turismo body and hybridation is the way to go for the high-end performance cars once the weight issue is solved. So well done Porsche despite the conservative numbers.

Re: Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid - Most powerful Panamera (2017)

The really bothering fact about the extra weight is that it only gives you 50km autonomy and 130hp, for 300kg... Not worth it on paper.

Re: Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid - Most powerful Panamera (2017)

In this USA-market TV show, Porsche execs can be heard saying that Panamera Gen I hybrid was optimized for economy.  After the 918, they changed their view for Panamera Gen II hybrid to be highest performance with good fuel economy.  Here at around 24:30    https://youtu.be/WuwT2AmV2S0

Mine as well...but I wouldn't get it as my only car. Similar to the Tesla S P100D (love it but only as a third or fourth car).

    For me? Also.

Regular Turbo S is only like 30HP over a Turbo no matter it's a 911, Cayenne or Panamera. This time the difference is 130HP!!!

    No brainer.

On the other hand the weight difference between Turbo S and Turbo, no matter 911, Cayenne or Panamera, is not 315 kg either.

    But you're overlooking the extra 400 newton-meters at a lowly 100 UPM!

Casual people paid too much attention to weight.

After the 918, I will not be so quick to do judgement simply based on specs on paper.

Re: Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid - Most powerful Panamera (2017)

Weight isn't always a bad thing. I remember my former Panamera Turbo S, what a car, so much fun for such a heavy monster but just not my thing. The new one certainly upped the game, no doubt about it.

5100 lbs. Might as well just go full EV at that point.

Nice car, but it's a pretty big stretch at $200K.

Strange "review". No mention about the hybrid integration and how that works. Nowadays motor journalists are all too positive in their reviews. But I can't blame them, because they get paid flight tickets by Porsche to come and test drive their cars with all inclusive hospitality. So to secure a spot for next launch party the reviewer can't be all that objective after all Smiley

Re: Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid - Most powerful Panamera (2017)

Agree that it's heavy and expensive, and will be improved way beyond this first Porsche foray into the luxury performance e-hybrid market.  But it is fast, really fast, especially coming out of corners where even the expert in the leading 911 Turbo S cannot keep up.  And for folks who have oodles of dough, 200K is economy super car range.

    I want it...
