    Re: 997 GT3 updated Pictures

What a beauty, thanks for the pics. Although I am not crazy about the rear spolier I love the car and I like it more than the TT because I like the normal aspirated engines better. Now I wonder if the front end of the GT3 is a lot lower than the 997S which means more issues scraping against the ground??

    Re: 997 GT3 updated Pictures

Boy, white is a great color on the GT3.

Either that, or a really wild color, like Pure Orange, would be my choice.

    Re: 997 GT3 updated Pictures

Left one is my color (Signal Yellow)

    Re: 997 GT3 updated Pictures

I am dying to see one in the flesh !!!!

It is just growing on me each minute, its an obssesion !!!

    Re: 997 GT3 updated Pictures

I am just dying to see the new 997 GT3 RS version....

    Re: 997 GT3 updated Pictures

Ron I am not a fan of yellow but that shade looks awesome on the GT3. You know how to pick em!

    Re: 997 GT3 updated Pictures

Excellent! By far the most inspiring Porsche!!

Aisxos, I'm dying to see pictures of your April F430 will have to congratulate you when it comes in!

I have a 997s with aerokit and PASM. In th month that I have had it I have hit the front 4 times on normal pieces of road. (It needs some touch up paint already!).

Each time accompanied by my screaming 'Oh god' and jumping out to see how much damage I have done.

Considering the GT3 is lower (another 20mm lower isnt it?) I would imagine it would be hitting the ground a lot here in England!

    Re: 997 GT3 updated Pictures

Yes, I think it will scrape more, but the GT3 has a black plastic lip that will take the punishment and it can be easily replaced with no need to do any touch-up painting...

    Re: 997 GT3 updated Pictures

Will it look weird if one removes the front lip for street driving?

    Re: 997 GT3 updated Pictures

    Ron,
Is the right one speed yellow then?
I think signal yellow is the same color as mike (W8mm or so) has on his CGT, isn't it? Boy I like that color! Way better than the speed yellow!

Grant has a good point, the plastic lip can be replaced and when you scrape the plastic lip, the 1st few times you hit you can sand off the lip and paint it yourself with flat black paint. So I think the plastic lip can be salvaged for a while and then you have to learn where not to drive the car. If the GT3 is 20mm lower that is under 1" in height which can make a difference when to comes to scraping against the ground and/or your drive way. I know when the 996TT came out many changed the plastic lip with the C4S lip which was notched in the center and much prettier the the Turbo's.

Yes the right one is speed yellow and coorect signal yellow is Mike's CGT color as well. Here are a comparison of all 3 yellows, form left to right: Signal Yellow, Speed Yellow, and Fayence Yellow.

I wouldn't do it. It's important for aerodynamics and it keeps the painted stuff from getting scuffed...

    Re: 997 GT3 updated Pictures

The difference is more than 20mm at the nose. Yes the ride height is 20mm lower but the front air-dam is much lower than that compared to the C2S. So it's going to be a b*tch to park and to get into car parks, driveways, and so on. But I wouldn't have it any other way. It's pure....

    Re: 997 GT3 updated Pictures

since the ride height is adjustable on the gt3 the -30mm (from standard carrera) corresponds to which height setting?

    Re: 997 GT3 updated Pictures

    Ron Thanks!
I love the Signal so much more than the speed!
