There is some better M2 coming (not sure if it'll be called CS or CSL, but it will be faster and more expensive than Competition).

A true successor to the 1M? My guess is the car will be about 100lbs lighter, which would still put it at an astonishing 3600 lbs.
A little disappointing that there aren't more improvements over the Competition. Nice that Manual is available though...

I’m not sure they will be satisfied. I didn’t get the sense that bmw fans were satisfied with the M4 CS either.

I would consider an M2 CSL at that price with huge weight loss and exciting emotional (and objective) performance.
It would have to be faster and more fun to drive than a base Carrera.

I still think it is possible that we see a CSL in the future. It seems that BMW wants to have 4 tiers of M Cars (not including stuff like M240i, etc.). So maybe M2, M2 Comp, M2 CS, and M2 CSL...

The price will be rather high for a 2 series. I'm looking at this car to replace my 1M [city car]. To find a small 4 seater which is fun/exiting/interesting is proving hard. Everything else is larger. The current M4 is a big car. Strangely, the other car I'm looking at for replacement of my city car is an old 993. Driving relatively slow around the city most of the time anyways, so why have 450HP that I can't use? Of course, it won't be as reliable, roomy or tech filled. Put some snow tires on it and have fun.

I usually do not see a lot of "standard" M-cars on the racetrack - the M-cars I see are mostly (older) M-cars tuned in particular and only for the racetrack. In other words, I have not seen that many (none!) M4 CS having spent sundays on the track and mondays commuting to the office...However, what I see as a trend in my neighborhood are "track cars" used as DD ... Buuuut, I am a sucker for BMW as DD, so I am looking forward to these new models.

Also, the M2 CS is featured in the current issue of Sport Auto, I think it is a great product. Anybody ordering one? Will it really be limited to less than 3000 cars?

Is there more news on it? I'd always thought I'd be interested in one, but that bloated OTT look of the M2 puts me off.

You can get a 997 RS for that money... Or a very decent M3 CSL for less.

I don't think the €90.000 asking price for a loaded car is unreasonable if you think that a Carrera starts from €105.000 before essential extras and offers 385 PS the same as a 997.2 CS of 10 years ago.
You can always compare and choose used over new, but this applies to all cars.
And I think that a M2 will be a defining car in the future as it will be the last small RWD M-car.
