I highly doubt this Nordschleife time (and it has been made "official" by Alfa Romeo, not an independent third party like a car magazine or whatever) for a stock car with 510 hp and RWD.

80k EUR for an Alfa Romeo? What did Fiat smoke lately? With AWD, maybe worth it but a bi-turbo with 510 hp in a 1.6 ton sedan and with RWD only? Not really fun to drive, unless you love drifting through your neighborhood.

Re: New Giulia laps the ring in 7.39

How much is M3? I'm expecting this to be less than M3 but I could be wrong!

Re: New Giulia laps the ring in 7.39

80k eur incl. ceramic brakes and carbon parts eg. would still be a good deal compared to M3/4 .. if it's included ..

anyway in the end list prices are not interesting .. as we all know the price you pay in the end gonna be different, no matter if bmw, merc or alfa ..

Re: New Giulia laps the ring in 7.39

I think none of the established brands will get cold sweat or lose sleep over this new Alfa Romeo.

Alfa Romeo have been away for too long and I don't think a fancy (factory claim) lap time could bring them back to claim the sporty saloon crown. Magazines will thrive and websites will enthuse over this lap time but it will have no effect on the market.

I am sorry but I highly doubt the claim... Smiley Unless Alfa Romeo re-invented the sporty sedan. Smiley

Actually, claims like this one make me not buy a certain car because I feel cheated.

Btw: Why doesn't Alfa Romeo include Ferrari numbers in this? Smiley

As to the price tag, I heard 79800 EUR in Germany. Base price (510 hp version).

RC .. why should Alfa claim a figure they can't match ? would be more than embarrasing no ?

why can't you be a bit more open minded and happy about one more competitor in the sportsedan world? ;)

Because I know sports cars, their performances and the Nordschleife very well?

AR doesn't say where they started with the measurement (BTG?) Also, they do not say the car is stock (which I doubt because it isn't on the market yet)? And last but not least, there is currently a speed limit in effect on the NS, so 7:39 would actually mean 7:35, which is even less likely.

Sorry, I do not buy these manufacturer numbers... (similar to the numbers Nissan or GM posted regarding the GT R and various Corvette models).

For example: Sport Auto tests on a length of 20.6 km but the BTG distance is "only" 19.1 km. BTG is the distance those Youtubers usually drive their cars. This is why some of them achieve fantastic numbers which are difficult to comprehend sometimes (in comparison to the Sport Auto times).

is any of the tested car by manufactures timed really stock ?

and alfa compares to the complete round not btg so I would hardly guess they are not so stupid to compare a btg time with other full laps ?

sorry but you are a bit picky now with the limits and so on .. if you just would say I don't like the car and your opinion is that it is to expensive for an alfa sedan ok .. but don't make the car bad without any facts that are the same with all manufactured measured cars ..

    peace love and out wink

    This sounds about right...

Still...95k EUR for an "ordinary" mass production Alfa Romeo? Ouch.

The 4C is a different story, I really like this car.

Yes, the Giulia may be well worth 95k with all the goodies if the quality is right but a 2.9 l bi-turbo V6 with 510 hp? Smiley

Sorry but this car doesn't tempt me a bit (the 4C does...).

I don't think the number is suspiciously off. It depends on the weight of the car. Imagine an M4 with 100hp more and maybe bit less weight. I am sure it would tangent 7.40 then.

What's so hard to believe? Brand new car with decent power/weight and very modern TC/ESP/whatever, and probably some high performance tires.

I do not trust any of these numbers because they aren't comparable.

Also, the car Timo Kluck used was perfectly "adapted" for the Nordschleife and there are rumors that it had the powerkit engine. Smiley Nothing happens without a reason. Smiley

In a test a German car magazine conducted, the Camaro Z/28 wasn't even close to factory claims on a race track.

Re: New Giulia laps the ring in 7.39

I am sure that none of the people who rave about the Giulia on the internet or in magazines will pay money for one.

    Also:

    • Even if for argument's sake the lap time is true, I am sure that the car in which it was achieved was not exactly the same as customers will be. This is usual with FIAT Group cars.

    • I am also sure that very few, if any customer cars will give the declared output of 510 PS. This has been an Italian tradition (for cars and motorcycles) since as far back as I can remember.

Guys honestly this discussion is so brain dead .. as said before .. NO OFFICIAL TIMED CAR EVER WILL BE SAME SPEC AS EVERY CUSTOMER WILL GET IN THE END!

and reginos .. audi, bmw, merc, PORSCHE, and many others as well are not reaching some of their figures or in the other way they go way over the figures .. ever has been like that .. just not many ppl did care about it!

really don't get the issue why you play down the cars potential .. some ppl gona buy it, some love it, others hate it .. like it is with every car .. if it's good or not is in the end a complete different thing (as well the feared quality of alfa haha) ..

If the 510 hp Guilia does 7:50 in the Sport Auto Supertest, it would be fantastic for a sedan. Actually, anything below 8:00 would be quite OK for a sedan.

I am more worried about straight line performance. With 510 hp and below 1.6 t weight, I would expect at least 0-200 kph in under 12 seconds. If the Guilia can achieve that, it could be a nice buy. I rather think, however, that the Guilia is going to do 0-200 kph around 14 seconds. Not good enough if I compare it to the Mercedes C63 models, which also have a nice V8 (rare in this class) and are in a similar price class. Sorry but Alfa Romeo needs to add something to the mix to make customers happy. The power alone and the (fabulous) Nordschleife time won't cut it (for now).

now I can agree with you RC wink

in the end for me the most important reason to buy will be the emotions the car give me when I:

    1. see it, 2. drive it, 3. feel it

The 4C is nice because it kind of gives the feeling of a small Ferrari (which unfortunately also generated the "poor man's Ferrari" nickname but I couldn't care less). Alfa Romeo made the mistake not to put enough cars on the road, the waiting time is too long but maybe this was part of the plan all along. Smiley

The Guilia is interesting, no doubt but comparing it to the C63 S AMG (same power, same price range), I kind of wonder how Alfa Romeo wants to pull this off. Especially since the Alfa Romeo quality isn't really famous for being the best out there... Smiley

my opinion about the 4c (driven it) .. personally don't like the look (headlights are just like ****) .. the car is nice to drive, but still would prefer a lotus there or even a less powerfull BRZ regarding handling and fun :)

Yes, the 4C headlights aren't a design highlight of the car. Maybe they didn't want to make it look too nice? indecision

Saw a black 4C Spyder (dealer car?) in Beverly Hills (next to Rodeo Drive) and it sounded amazing. Not sure if the original car sounds like that but if it does...good job Alfa Romeo. Also so a 991 GT3 there, love these new(?) California license plates in black with yellow lettering.
