    Noble M15 announced

    http://www.noblecars.com/m15/index.html

Same price as a loaded 997, but much, much faster.

    Anyone tempted?

    Re: Noble M15 announced

Not for me. 0-60 in 3.5! It is quick indeed. There are too many aesthetic issues which make me cringe, particularly that shelf at the rear!

    [edit]

    Re: Noble M15 announced

    No!

Interesting, but definitely less elegant than a 911. Especially the square-looking door, which is caused by the air-intakes before and after it, is no comparisen with the curves of a carrera.

    Re: Noble M15 announced

Agreed. The M14 prototype - well, that was a good looking machine. This, though, looks like a kit car made from plywood.

    Re: Noble M15 announced

    Fast but ugly.

    Re: Noble M15 announced

I could almost live with the front end of it, but no. It looks like a kit car made of plastic.

    Oh wait a sec.....

    Re: Noble M15 announced

Had I not seen a good few Nobles then maybe I would have been tempted.

But I made the mistake of going to look at some (As I live half an hour away from my nearest Noble dealer). I actually thought I wanted to buy one. Silly me!

Unfortunately no matter how well it accelerated or handled could override the fact that it is hand built by a bunch of lads in a shed in Leicestershire. And god can you tell!

I didn't even ask to drive it, and sitting in it was just too much for me!

Not having seen an M15 (I can only quote on the M12), I found the interior comical. I assume they gave a 17 year old 200 quid and asked him to go down to demon tweeks and buy some cool interior bits. And so he did. Odd!

Exterior wise, way better panel fit than TVR, but odd paint runs here and there shouldn't be seen on a car of that value! And still very "kit car" and cheap to look at up close (In my personal opinion!!)

Maybe one day these things will be great! But somehow I just know that the overall quality of this new car will be laughable at that price.

But yes but it will go fast.. But then again so does a GT3! (Except GT3's don't have bits fall off quite the same). And GT3's don't have interiors that smell like a dog has slept there for the last 6 months (all the 2nd hand ones I saw had a damp dog smelling interiors, probably from poorly fitted door seals!)

Like the M15 look though. And nice it is British!!

    Re: Noble M15 announced

Yuck. Almost as bad as the M3 spy pictures.

It looks like a Ferarri and a Lamborghini had sex !!

I kind of like it but I don't know anything about Noble.... which would keep my interest level low....

Re: It looks like a Ferarri and a Lamborghini had sex !!

Too much like a kit car. When compared to the 911, it's like putting a Prince next to a thug

Re: It looks like a Ferarri and a Lamborghini had sex !!

Did they forget to take off the test car camouflage before taking the pics? Front looks pretty cool, but the rear is terrible. Interior does not really thrill me. Yes, indeed it is British... just like Lucas, the electrical firm who invented darkness

It is a tiny British car manufacturer (One of our last few). Run by a bloke called Lee Noble who knows how to make cars go. Lee Noble understands the fundamentals of how to design a superb handling car that fights way above its class. And has been doing so for a good while.

British car mags love them, and only ever seem to pick on them where quality is concerned. Engineering integrity is generally very good, they just have a bit of a 'cheap' feel.

Great performer from what I have read but it seemed like they borrowed styling cues from other exotics???

Re: It looks like a Ferarri and a Lamborghini had sex !!

    Hot wheel concept?!

Re: It looks like a Ferarri and a Lamborghini had sex !!

"It looks like a Ferarri and a Lamborghini had sex !!" on a very very bad day....
(Next time can someone please tell them to use protection for God'sack )

Re: It looks like a Ferarri and a Lamborghini had sex !!

    The styling is truly hideous.

I love the M12 versions and would definitely have one as an alternative to a 997 if I tusted it to be able to stand up to abuse but this one looks so ugly on the outside I wouldn't bother even getting in it.

mmm... looks like it was a bit more kinky than that

Those lights look like those on a TVR Sagaris, The Front Bumper looks like a Ferrari F430's and by the looks of the basic shape of the car(esp the rear end) AND the aircon vents, it looks like a Lamborghini Gallardo joined the party as well...Freaky

Noble should get an identity of their own.. They make awesome cars no doubt, but the styling throws me off

    Re: Noble M15 announced

To put things in proportion, most car companies probably have more people working in their styling studios than Lee Noble has in his whole factory, so we shouldn't be surprised if his products do not eclipse an AM DB9 in terms of looks!

Nobles have up until now been low-weight, relatively high-powered track day specials with excellent handling, and all that at earth-bound prices. Such cars are not normally bought for their looks.

Nevertheless, I think the company would be well advised to push this car back into the factory, get a good freelance stylist to go over it and clean it up, and then start thinking about making the final molds for the body panels.

    Re: Noble M15 announced

Fritz while I agree that Lee does not have the design people behind him to make a DB9 he doesn't even get halfway toward a TVR which is yet another small company that manages to have some beautiful designs.

This bugger is so old fashioned and schoolboyish it sucks big time.

I hope you are talking about the car and not the guy.

    Re: Noble M15 announced

    oops I meant the car

    I wouldn't be so dismissive

This will be a terrific car that will fall somewhere between the "GT-ness" of the 997S and the track ready GT3. It may not have the looks, but when it comes to track-biased cars, who gives a damn what they look like as long as they're fast. And it's more than highly likely that the M15 will squish the much softer 997S with ease.

Lee Noble builds terrific cars that offer a helluva lot of performance for the money. But if you're looking for the comfort-oriented Lexus like refinement and trimmings that most 997 owners seem to demand, then look elsewhere.

Re: I wouldn't be so dismissive

I agree it will be great just as the M12 wipes the floor with a Carrera S on track or certainly the M400 does, however this new car is not as track biased as you might think. This is supposed to be an upmarket GT like, car with good track capability in the same vain as a 997.

In this regard I think it will fail. The original design imho looked far better but if you are paying 75k looks do come into it.

While I would certainly buy an M12 if it were not for all the owners having serious issues with build quality (look at Pistonheads for owners problems) I would not even consider this M15.

Re: I wouldn't be so dismissive

Just had a look at the Hi-Res pics on the Noble web site.

You can even see the glue where the badly gitting carpets go!

Those high res pics give a lot away about the qualitu.

I think externally it looks great however!

Re: I wouldn't be so dismissive

Am I correct in thinking that whilst Noble is a British company and the design work is British, the cars are actually built in South Africa.

I remember reading a group test article where they pitted a Noble, against other "similar" cars like the M3, the 911, the TVR, etc and the Noble did really really well, until one of the front struts and wheels detached from the car, severely affecting road handling, steering, stability and comfort.

Re: I wouldn't be so dismissive

LOL, does not surprise that when a wheel detaches, it affects road handling, steering, stability and comfort!

I was of the belief that the bodies were done abroad but the mechanicals were done over here.

I have the magazine review with the 'dropoff' wheel problem here. They did get an apology from the man himself so I guess thats ok!
