    More Audi R8 news and pics

    Just found this article on the R8 and I really like the changes they made to the car. I have one on order and can't wait.

    Thank you for the link. I am quite interested in the car although I must say that the styling doesn't really ring any bells for me. The side view in particular seems to flow very poorly. Maybe I'll find the styling more appealing with time.

    I thought the exact samet thing about the styling. It looks very "thrown together" and doesnt appear to flow well at all

    As the Audi flagship/halo car with main existence ( via having a Gallardo in the corporate barn ) and business case of helping sell the whole model line , it has to look like an Audi , esp the grill and the rear lights and much of the interior interface , so of course their will be familiar elements in the styling from their bread and butter cars . Look at MBZ's example of piecing together model line cues : it's easy to mistake a $450K SLR from a $45K SLK in the rear view mirror

    You ain't kidding! My daily commute crosses the path of some guy who apparently works at Daimler Chrysler and gets to take some of the products home. I've had a couple of SLRs go by when I've been waiting at a crossroad, and always have to do a double-take.

    According to the latest issue of the norwegian Audi Magazine, the R8 will be presented to the public on june 16th.

    They also claim that the engines will be the V8 from the RS4 and the V10 from the S6/S8 tuned to 500 hp.

    But they say in the headline that it will enter production this summer, and in the last paragraph that production will start in the second quarter of 2007, so I don't know....

    Well... According to last issue of german Auto Zeitung R8 will be introduced to the public at Paris 2006 show in autumn. Regarding engines, 4.2L-420hp and 5.2L-500hp, both in dry sump version. 4.2L will be first, followed six months later by 5.2L... Manual gearbox standard, sequential option. Starting price- Euro 85000!!
    But, lets wait and see...

    It actually reminds me of Audi's 1991 Avus concept.

    I am hearing the intro at LeMans on June 16th also. Good time to intro since no other car company is doing so and they might get lost with all the other intros at Paris.

    can't see the problem..
    summer is may-september, right?
    second quarter is april-may-june..
    probably production will start at end of june, right after the reveal.
